Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

Was recommended to go here by a friend. Probably with vineyards it depends on what you are looking for. This is a very commercial outfit and not at all as nice as some of the others I was in. I didn't find the staff particularly friendly either.

Beautiful farm. Reception staff very professional. Rooms large, bath and shower, aircon and fireplace. Fridge in the room. Beverages from room fridge extremely expensive. R25 for a bottle of water. Highway robbery prices. Craft market very boring. Same old African arts. The route that you follow with the voice tour is fantastic. Had supper at Hotel restaurant. Very expensive. Was... More

Spent about an hour yesterday tasting wine. Was fantastic. Very well organized. Just a pitty we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Would highly recommend the wine tasting experience. Also, thanks to the entertainer vouchers for our buy one get one free!

I visited Spier with my mum and brother, and was surprised by the place. I went for the chocolate and wine tasting and was great! But my favorite part is outdoors. Beautiful grass, very welcoming for a picnic( they have a delicatessen there to help u preparing it). I wish i could have spent more time there!

Having a picknick at the Wine Farm provides an extra dimension to wine tasting. It is possible to make a selection of the food available for the picnic and, of course, select one of the Spier wines.

We totally enjoyed the surroundings and excellent food. Not an extensive menu but the meal was delicious.

To end of a year with special friends who share a passion for books and words Spier was the perfect choice. The chocolate and wine tasting was an experience to remember with lots of new flavours and and wow moments. Sharing platters had more than enough fresh and scrumptious produce to nibble on. Three chocolate flavours to go with 6... More

We dropped by for a visit to Eagle Encounters, and explored the grounds. It's extremely well-maintained, with lots of activities to keep everyone happy. The picnic grounds are decent for a quick bite from the Eight Restaurant Deli, while adults can enjoy wine tasting too.

We ordered a picnic basket upfront and spent a wonderful time there. It was great to sit in the idyllic landscape and to enjoy the delicious picnic food, especially the potato salad and the sweet treats were so lovely! Highly recommend!

What a brilliant way to see this outstanding wine farm. The segways were great fun and easy to use (after full training from Arnold and team). The tour lasted the full 2 hours followed by a wine tasting. We had lunch in the shade at the BBQ courtyard cafe. It was excellent.
