We were lucky enough to be staying on Dorp Street for a couple of days and loved being in the historic heart of this charming town. The end of the street close to the church has some large mansions but, equally, there are some family homes which are heritage buildings. There are dozens of coffee shops, cafes, bars and restaurants... More

Just a lovely long walk and drive down Dorp. Lots of history, galleries, shops, restaurants and more. We spent a hour or so.

We walked down Dorp St having seen it listed on Trip Advisor - it does have a few nice shops and cafes (Verbatim Book Shop great) but the parallel Church Street is much more buzzing and more concentrated with interesting shops and galleries.

When I was kid, every Saturday morning was an event. The family would get into my dads car and we would head off to the main street of our town to walk about as well as get "provisions" for the week. Dorp street is a similar experience for me, a few decades later. It's fun and you don't have to... More

Dorp st is the main street in Stellenbosch and it has a nice relaxing feel since most of the shops and restaurants are the next street over, so you get to walk among the old Dutch architecture and take your time taking photos and visiting galleries. The entire street is in the shade so it is nice a cool, and... More

Dorp street is really worth a stroll from one end to the other. It is really charming, with the old oaks lining the street. There are so many historic buildings, restaurants and coffee shops. You have a choice of burger joints, deli's, bakeries and other restaurants. Also don't forget to drop in at Oom Samie se Winkel for souvenirs, antiques,... More

ambience rules. Olde Stellenbosch, with South Africa's history in all corners. The HQ of Afrikaanerdom, is now more a tourist area and a centre for over 100 wineries around the City.
