Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped because reported by the two guides we had with us, but frankly we were a little disappointed. Maybe because the sand was all wet, maybe because it was already crowded more than average, maybe because it is more equipped (umbrellas, sunbeds etc.) than the many free beaches of the Algarve, but we expected more. If you have little time, skip it...

The beach is beautiful, the water is crystal clear and the village is so charming and authentic. You can see the fishing boats, the fishing men and there's also a fish van that comes to the village in the morning. There's also plenty of lovely restaurants and cafes. Burgau is truly a hidden gem in Algarve, we loved it.

It is a small town where its center is a balcony where you have a 180° view of the beach. It is considered the Portuguese Santorini and I think I will give it a thumbs up. You can also enjoy a small viewpoint located to the west on the hill. It is a bit difficult to park in the center. But you can leave your car on nearby streets.

Looked nice enough but busy so if you have a car go along to cabanhas velhas or boca rio . The walk over the cliffs to our villa in qdf was challenging, up and down but great views. Took about 45min.

My teenage daughter and I walked the coastal path from Praia da Luz to Burgau on a beautiful sunny morning. The 3 mile path follows the coast between the two villages and took us just over an hour each way, stopping for water and photo breaks along the way. Good walking shoes/trainers are recommended - it would be very difficult in flip flops. There is a steep hill half way but the views from the top are worth the climb!
Burgau is a smaller village than Praia da Luz but both have beautiful, if small, sandy beaches and a range of beach cafes/bars and shops.

Cycling the Algarve coast, we passed through Burgau and took a detour to the beach leaving me to think: why aren't we hanging out here?
The old town that leads to the beach oozes old-world charm. The beach has a private feel as it is backdropped by the town and bookended by cliffs. The white sand is inviting and the waters pretty calm.
If you are looking to travel to this part of Portugal, take a close look at Burgau and it's beach.

quite a small beach with not much parking in the vicinity but a great visit in winter. Lots of restaurants around up the hill and a few on the waterfront.

Lovely beach in the wonderful village of Burgau. Great beach bar, and you can hire paddleboards / kayaks / snorkelling gear, sunbeds etc. Parking quite tricky to find but is free around the streets.

Hi we like a quiet holiday but want a few bars and restaurants, is there plenty in Burgau, thankyou.

It sounds a good fit for you. It's a lovely village resort with fairly steep cobbled streets tumbling down to a modest sized, clean beach that's not too crowded. There's probably around a dozen bars/restaurants there, nearly all quite small - book in advance at peak times.
