Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice walk even in a hot day with a rewarding view from the top. There are nearby summits to scale as well and the paths are well defined

I took a walk to the Cerro de Sao Miguel a couple of weeks ago. The path itself is easy to walk on and the way farily short (from the carpark next to the bike trail). The view from the hill is stunning and it is worth the walk: there is also the possibility to climb on a little tower in order to have a look at the panorama. From there, you can even see the Algarve and the Spanish borders (if it's not cloudy!). The perfect way to unplug and enjoy a little bit of nature!

Not quite top of the world but the highest point in the locality. Quite a narrow road access with some sheer drops but a great vista from the top.

The only downside - unless you are a nervous passenger in a car - is the buildings and pylons on the top. However you are not there to look at the hill but to look away from it. The views are second to none on a clear day. Spain to the East. The Atlantic Ocean to the South and a long way West along the Algarve. To the North you are looking inland and into the hills which lie between the Algarve and the rest of Portugal.
The road to get there is narrow, twisty, steep and on the South side the drop is precipitous. Nervous passengers, shut your eyes both up and down but enjoy the view from the top.
I see a reviewer suggesting that you can walk or cycle to the top. Well, yes you can, but you will need to be very fit and ready to melt in the sun.

Imagine being at the top of the Algarve´s world, gazing the sunrise or the sunset, with the beautiful atlantic ocean at one side and the raw small mountains surrounding you.
Despite of being the highest, São Miguel mountain is rather low so it is very convenient to drive, bike or walk up there, specially for those sun magic moments.
It is unforgettable.

Was recommended to visit from the owner of the villa we were staying in. The views are breathtaking - we could see our villa with our binoculars. The road to the summit is a bit scary but just take your time and it's fine. Feel like you are on top of the world :) x

See the 5 photos added, spectacular views from the top, hairy coming down but don't let that put you off, head up from the crossroads in the middle of Moncarpacho.

Choose a clear day to travel to the top of Cerro da São Miguel and you won't be disappointed. Amazing views across the whole Algarve. Good road to the top and places to park. Worth parking half way and walking the rest so you can admire the views. Take the track off road to see rare wildflowers and abundant butterflies. Keep your eye skyward and you may see an eagle soaring on the thermals. Well worth a morning visit.

The road to the top is twisty but the view from the top makes it with the time it takes to get there. Look back over the autoroute to the distant coast and ria formosa. You need a good day with a clear sky.... mornings are better before a heat haze establishes..
