The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

It was located in the center of Recoleta near the famous cemetery of the same name. In 1732, Jesuit architects designed the building in the Gothic Revival style as a home for Recoleta friars.
Over time, it has been a school, hospital, and shelter for homeless people until the 1970s.
After renovating in the 1980s, it was turned into an exhibition and cultural center, where concerts, artistic presentations, and workshops of diverse kinds are held, especially for young artists.
Check out its event calendar for upcoming events.
TIP: It even has a beautiful terrace with sculptures overlooking the park.

What a fun space to explore for the creative side of life. The exhibitions were engaging and interesting. The fact that there are people making art, dancing and more is a great way to feed your creative spirit.

Our guides were amazing. We happened to get there just as a tour was starting and got to join. There’s so much story and beauty in the place.

It does not match the description at all, there is a hostel for young artists and an exhibition for boys called "No Touching Prohibited" as well as a little stall where they sell hamburgers and young employees with bad milk

Normally when I see the words 'cultural centre' I imagine an empty old building serving as a make-work project and people paid to sit around and do nothing. But here, it's much different.
Young people dancing- in different styles from room to room. Workshops, DJs, Art galleries and exhibitions small and large, wild and wonderful. Whoever curates this place really puts together fantastic presentations. There's even a hands-on science gallery for younger kids. (Touching the displays is mandatory!)
I admit it felt a bit strange as an outsider wandering through, but what is art for if not to be seen? But wander you must! There are many galleries within- some along the inside hallway, others along the outer corridor.
There is a craft market outside with food vendors on Saturdays, and a cafe at least inside. In addition they'll have concerts and films, check their web site if you want the current program.
Overall, it was the joy and exhuberance of everthing going on here that made my visit worthwhile.

I accidentally went here and just roamed around. It’s not for touristy though, as it’s more of a hangout place for Argentine youths. I appreciate this though

I imagine this place has activies from time to time, but when we were there in Feb 2020, the place was just a hallway to the terraces beyond. In other words, nothing was going on - no exhibits, no artwork, no activities, no nothing.

I was amazed about this place in Recoleta. All people can relax there in the garden and in the cafe and different location inside the building. Also there is wall painting and exhibitions. Young people can learn hip hop there for free.

For me, this was a real highlight of Buenos Aires. The center is one part modern art, one part sit-and-have-a-drink, and one part learning. I found the space to be inviting and colorful, worth a stop after touring the cemetery next door.

There are a lot of art activities happening here. For me it didn't create such a good impression, but for the lovers of modern art for sure can be nicer
