In about 1910, the 75.5 metre, Palladian-style clock tower was a gift (bestowed only in the sense of commitment to build soon) from British expats to the people of the City of Buenos Aires, to mark the 100th year anniversary of the Revolution of May...More

This attraction has its historical value but I would like to have gone to the top of the tower. Of course I understand that the reason might be to preserve this beautiful monument.

What was originally a gift made in kindness became a focus for resentment and vandalism, necessitating construction of a security fence for...More

In the days when UK and Argentina had a very close relationship this Tower was donated to the Argentine people. Hence it was called the English Tower. Not surprisingly the word English was dropped after the Falkland war! Lovely piece of architecture

What made this menument ironic is that the Argentine Falkland Islands/Islas Malvinas memorial to those who died in this conflict is literally situated across the road from the English Clock Tower. The tower is a gift from the English to Argentina in the 1800s. They...More

This towering building reminded me of other clock towers I have visited in the world, including England, the Netherlands and South Africa. This is not surprising given the fact that this tower was a gift from British residents of Buenos Aires; the designers, builders and...More
