The area

Neighbourhood: La Boca
A neighbourhood defined by its immigrant roots, La Boca still maintains this past alive in its streets today. Due to its proximity to the river, the neighbourhood became the preferred settling area for immigrants of a wide variety of origins, who ended up living together in the conventillos. Thus, these houses became a melting pot of different cultures and traditions that birthed creations like tango and lunfardo. Nowadays, this legacy can be seen and felt on Caminito Street, which welcomes visitors with colourful facades, cobblestones, and street artists showcasing their skills. Just like its neighbor San Telmo, La Boca is one of the prime destinations to experience the traditions and customs that originated from the city’s immigrant past and which have shaped its distinct identity.

We stopped there for lunch, had a few beers, a marguerita pizza (the reason I gave 4 out 5 stars) and ravioli.

Starting with the service, I think it was really good. We got a table outside and our waitress was always around in case we needed.

The raviolis were good and the pizza would be better if they didn't put whole leaves of basil. It was the first time I took the basil off of my pizza, but it was really hard to eat the whole leaf, besides, they forgot the tomato sauce. But overall it was a great experience, and I would go back there for sure.

PS. If you get a table outside you need to keep aware of the pigeons that will fly right on your table and eat your food. We saw a couple that had to order another coffee cause a bunch of pigeons got them in a moment of distraction and took over their table.

At the entrance of Caminito and easy to notice. No Touristic Tango Shows but value for money food. We had a wonderfull waiter; Julio that also arranged a naf an hour chat with the thind generation owner. Let them choose the wine and food for you, you will not get dissapointed. Well done, pleased and get there 2 times in one week.

It is a traditional and old place. There are even 2 dancers performing tango. The environment is good. The food was reasonable. The bathroom needs to improve hygiene.

Just as the entire district of Boca itself does the Bar La Perla also dwell of tradition, attitude and a certain charme that is lost in many stylish bars of today. Built in typical harbor style (a lot of wood, many antiquaries and memorabilia inside) does this bar create a certain coziness that is inviting to enjoy a cool Quilmes on a hot summer day, while watching over the sea and the hectic life in La Boca. Very recommendable!

We picked this place because they accepted credit cards. Not many restaurants at El Caminito do.It was a very busy day and we tried to be patient, but the service was awful. We sat indoors because there is a lot to see on the walls of this historic place. When our food was actually ready it was served to another table. Upon its rejection we finally got our meal almost 40 minutes later!
