About
Literary experience in Buenos Aires are 2 hours walks -with stops- to introduce you to an Argentinian author's world. We read a famous short story as we go around the author's neighborhood. We visit their house, the corners where the short story takes place and we drink a typical "cortado" in one of the area's traditional cafes. We offer 3 different tours: Borges, Cortazar and Jewish authors. Spanish, English

My husband and I took the Jewish Experience tour with Lara. We got more than just the facts and the sights. The combination of her experience, enthusiasm and intellectual bent helped us understand more of the city than just the Jewish community in Buenos Aires. Lara embellished historical events with her own personal stories which made the events seem more real. Fantastic insight into a complex city and culture.

I contacted Lara in hope that this tour is still on going, after reading some reviews on it. She was happy to do the tour just for me! :)

This tour is a great way for visitors to see and enjoy Palermo and Parque 3 febrero. It mainly focuses on Borges and his literary life, but we also plunged into some other historical context that was interesting to hear about. It made my understanding and appreciation of Borges greater.

I do enjoy reading, and the history of literature, but I do not have the biggest knowledge about Borges in particular. I think Lara is able to make the history and literature interesting to anyone, wether you already are familiar with Borges (and Argentinean/latin literature as such) or not! She is able to answer any question you might have on the subject, and with a very contagious enthusiasm!

My husband and I did this tour in June during a short visit to Buenos Aires and it was really enjoyable. I’m a big fan of Jorge Luis Borges but my husband didn’t know much about him, and the tour was pitched perfectly for both us. We learned a lot about his life and literature, whilst exploring the city and reading excerpts of his stories and poetry along the way. Lara is an excellent guide - friendly, engaging, passionate about literature and very knowledgeable! We really enjoyed getting to know her and learning from her. We would definitely recommend to anyone interested in learning about Argentine literature, history and culture! Muchas gracias, Lara!

I grew up reading Argentinean writers and, above all, Borges. For me, Buenos Aires is the most literary city in the world. Ye, unlike in the case of say New York or Paris, I could hardly conjure any images of BA before visiting the city.

Lara's Borges tour is an excellent way to discover old Palermo, where Borges spent his childhood, and one of the most pleasant and interesting areas of Buenos Aires.

Lara knows everything there is to know about Borges. She loves the old man and she loves Buenos Aires. If you're already an old Borgesian, like me, you will enjoy discussing with Lara the details of Borges' life and stories as much as I did. If you are a neophyte, beware: Lara's enthusiasm is catching.

I am looking forward to visiting again Buenos Aires and taking Lara's other tours.

Lara is a highly knowledgeable, articulate, and entertaining guide. Her tour provides an historical, cultural, and social context for the writers of Buenos Aires, which she brings to life through a well-designed walk through the neighborhoods that those writers frequented (we took the Borges tour). It is also a good way to gain a deeper appreciation of the city itself. I highly recommend it, it made our stay in Buenos Aires a memorable one. Thank you, Lara!

Lara is a wonderful tour guide, my husband and I really enjoyed our excursion on Borges, including history of Palermo, facts of Borges' biography and an analyses of a short story during the coffee break. All together very enriching and stimulating experience, highly recommended!

I have done 2 tours with Lara now, the first was to explore the life, writings, and neighbourhood of Jose Luis Borges, Argentina's greatest writer. We even his read short stories and poems over coffee, really great.
The second tour was to explore a Jewish neighbourhood, while talking about Argentina's Jewish history, visiting shops, delis, synagogues and many other points of interest.
Lara is a terrific guide, very knowledgeable, and she lectures in literature at Uni. Both tours were full of amazing bits of information with a lovely guide to make the experience rich. Highly recommended.

I went on the Cortázar tour in the Agronomía neighborhood with writer Carolina Sbrovsky, who is currently filling in for Lara and was referred by her to me. It was informative and highly interesting. Agronomía is an area of Buenos Aires unlike any other - it really feels like being in a different city entirely. There are fields and llamas and dirt roads, palm trees mixing with pine trees - all in the middle of the city! Going through the neighborhood and hearing the stories of Cortázar's life, and having read almost all of his stories myself, I was able to gain new perspective on his work and his environment. Carolina was very knowledgeable and took clear pleasure in spending the time with me and talking about Cortázar and reading his stories. It is the least popular literary tour, and yet it is so well worth it. Agronomía is a very local place, there are no tourists, the streets are quiet and full of personality and mystery. It is a great place to awaken the imagination, and Carolina will tailor the tour to suit your interests. It is not a "stiff" tour experience - it is highly interactive and quite casual and a lot of fun. I recommend this experience without hesitation, and I'm deeply gratified to have had this experience - the best of my entire time in Buenos Aires.

Lara led a fascinating private tour of the Once neighborhood in Buenos Aires. She was able to tie in the places we visited to the larger historical context. She answered all our questions and, in addition to being very knowledgeable, was extremely fun and pleasant. She even stayed after the tour was over to give us some other Buenos Aires recommendations that have been wonderful as well. I highly recommend her tour!!

This was the best tour we have taken. Our family took the tour of Jewish Buenos Aires. Lara has such deep knowledge and yet presents everything in a very accessible way. We loved the sights, the people, and the food. Always the professor at heart she had us stop at a cafe where we read and discussed two short stories relevant to the tour. That is the only time we've ever had that happen on a tour. Lara speaks English fluently and is warm and friendly and engaging. On our next trip to Argentina we will definitely take her other tours.
