Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Between Mendoza and Cerro Aconcagua lies this picturesque location which is stunning. Unfortunately there is no swimming allowed and no other facilities or cafe or outlet offering food. Worth a quick stop and if you’ve brought your own food maybe a quick picnic. The views are amazing which managed to ensure five stars.

There are clean dams but this dam with plastic everywhere is not clean. Avoid as water smells rotten.

(It's not a lagoon! But it could be.) The contrast of the blue waters with the brown and white of the mountains is worth photographing.

One of the most awe-inspiring places I´ve ever been...the blue waters against the foot of the Andes mountain make for a breathtaking view. And there are many things to do, such as rafting, zip-lines, kayaking, kite-surfing, biking, trekking and horseback riding.

Astonishing place, just 1 hour from Mendoza city, if you can go by car is better because you can freely choose between stops and the distances are far for walking. On the other hand you can take a bus (AR$81 by ticket) and hop off on the second stop (the first one after Cacheuta). The Dam itself its a marvelous lake with blue waters and high mountains you can see the Aconcagua from certain places. It becomes the perfect activity for a whole day, pack some food, beverages and a speaker if you want, invite some friends over and enjoy. Just be cautious of the sun there is no shading. Some spots has kayak and other rental activities for the day.

We visited Potrerillos Dam in our way to Cristo Redentor de Los Andes. We did not spend more then 30 minutes here. It is a different view, with all that blue water surrounded by mountains. Very interesting.
But, I don't think it pays off to go only to see the dam. It must be part of a trip, like visiting Cristo Redentor de Los Andes or Aconcagua park.

The views are dramatic. The lake is gorgeous but swimming is not allowed. There were few boats but not to tour the lake...no food or restrooms nearby so its not a destination by a stop by only.

Drive on RD 82 (not on 7), and it will get you closer to the water. There are established waterfront access points, where you can go swimming or windsurfing. If you simply come for the landscape, drive all the way to the west end of the reservoir and have a meal at the hotel Gran Hôtel Potrerillos. It has a lovely scenic view and you can linger in their garden or at the swimming pool. Moreover, it has its own vineyard, and the Staphyle Malbec is simply delicious!
