I spent 6 excellent days cycling the Rioja-San Juan bike tour led by Dani and Nahuel, as well as Sebastian (a local guide).

The tour was very thoughtfully planned, accommodations, meals and snacks were very good. A couple of lunches took place with the warm hospitality of local families, adding to the experience of the region.

The rides provided excitement, challenge (I learned to ride in sand), magnificent sites, history and pure enjoyment of this interesting and beautiful region of Argentina.

Dani, Nahuel and Sebastian were all encouraging and relaxed so that everyone, regardless of cycling ability, felt included as well as challenged. The balance was very well done to meet everyone’s needs. Overall a wonderful trip!

This was an excellent experience! We did not get to meet Danny, the owner, in person, as he was leading a group trip, but talked with him several times on the phone. His staff ws excellent and really extra helpful. I am a 71 year old woman, who cycled the "siete de lagos route" by myself, as my husband was injured and could not cycle. Danny and staff took care of making ferry boat reservations for me, made lodging accomodations for me and made sure that the bicycle was the right size frame for me (I am height challenged!). His bikes are in really good mechanical condition, most are new and so are his accessories. The staff let me check out the garage and let my husband double check the mechanical condition of the bike, up on the stand. Because of my husband's injury, we had to cancel his bike rental, but Danny helped us with a bike rack for the rental car. Danny's maps were good and I had a ball! I would recommend Cordillera Bikes very highly and we will go with them again on our next trip to the Bariloche area. The recommended route is so incredibly beautiful and so lightly traveled roads. We look forward to meeting Danny in person next time! Thanks to all the staff! Elaine and Pat Rourke, Florida

There are two main companies you can hire bikes from to ride the Circuito Chico. We decided to go with Cordillera and our friends went with the other company.

Pros:
- The bikes were well maintained, the gears and brakes worked well.
- good information from the staff about the primary places to stop and safety around the circuit
- 100 pesos cheaper than the other company

Cons:
- The bike seat was pretty uncomforable (considering we stopped heaps to go for hikes and only sat on the bike for 2.5 hours total over the whole day, my bottom was pretty sore by the end of the day!).
- we had to ask for specific information about some hikes and breweries we had read were on the circuit. We were told they don't recommend people do one of the hikes as it takes two hours which is too long (...it does take two hours, but we had 8 hours to ride the whole circuit so had heaps of time!)
- we were not given a map and were encouraged to take a photo of the map in the hire shop which does not have enough detail for while you are riding. The other company gives a simple, one page map with points of interest and this was really helpful.

Hola KyriaEmka, Thank you for your detailed review. It is very hard for us to know the experience and fitness of each of our visitors. For some of them the Circuito Chico ride is a challenge, for others it is very easy. That´s why we use the official time table to inform the hikes duration. And our own experience for the ride. We used to provide maps. Now we try to avoid to use paper if it is not necessary. On the other hand, everybody has a map in the phone, right? Once again, thank you so much to take the time to share your experience. Gracias! Daniel, Cordillera Bike team

I hired a private guide to take me on a 3-4 hour ride around the area. The team was great with logistics and communication - picking me up at my hotel, providing great equipment and the guide Victoria was a ton of fun and very knowledgable about the area as she guided me across multi-surface roads and trails. Would recommend to all levels of cyclists.

If I could give this experience one hundred stars I would!! We met Daniel and Julian first thing Saturday morning- these guys are so genuinely nice and down to earth.

We parked near the entrance of a trailhead along the Limay river and went over safety procedures and were fitted for the bikes and offered snacks and drinks. Julian took off to meet us at the end point some four or five hours later.

The bikes are really good quality! I was really nervous to switch gears (which is an absolute necessity with this terrain) because of other times we have rented bikes that may not have been tuned up in the last ten years. His bikes perform well though. Daniel gave advice for how to better take advantage of the gear shifting (after seeing me struggle) and that really helped the rest of the trek.

Daniel was also sensitive to our speed and need for breaks. He would stop at different points to tell us some of the past and more recent history of this place. He also knows the trail LIKE THE BACK OF HIS HAND. He would stop and warn us about ascents coming up and what to do if the path got too steep or too loose/fine dust. He would give advice on how to bike through streams and how to best bike down steep (so steep) declines without flipping the bike and killing yourself. I’m proud to say we survived the trip but I’m pretty sure if we had gone it alone without him as a guide we would have had a much different outcome.

The scenery is out of this world. No pictures from books or the computer do it justice- and the thing is I really don’t think you can see even half the wonder of this area from driving along the highway. These views are reserved for those who are willing to get sweaty and dusty and delusionally hopeless (me) toward the midpoint of the first big ascent. You will be biking the trail and see cows running alongside you or horses neighing at you and trying to follow. You are so far away from the highway you have no idea it exists or where it is. It’s just you and the people who signed up and Daniel in this incredible wild surrounding. You bike past beautiful estancias and toward the end you bike past a small village. Daniel knows people from there and cares about them and they clearly feel the same way about him. People would see him and go to hug him and say hello.

When we finally got to the end, Julian was waiting for us with a table full of salad, fruit, empanadas and drinks (and some wildflowers). We hung out and ate a ton and talked before packing up and heading back to our hotels. Julian also is such a great guy- so friendly and easy to speak to.

The price was more than reasonable for what you got. You can pay with a credit card which is so convenient. The people were great- this company is so good. I feel like
people who care about nature, beauty and quiet solitude couldn’t find a better outfitter to go with. The company offers longer multi-
day trips and honestly I keep thinking of how and when we can get back out here to take them up on it.

I promise- you go with these guys and you’ll never forget this experience. If you want to eat chocolate, shop for gifts, bar hop and fight for parking then stay in Bariloche- it’s a fun time. If you truly want to see Patagonia get a hold of these guys!!!

Last January I rented a bike at Cordillera Bike and their service was impeccable. There was immediately someone available to assist me in my choice and he spoke fluent English. They gave me a recommended route based on my expectations for Circuito Chico and indicated on the map what the most beautiful stops are. Their price is very reasonable for the mountainbike you get and their great service. My highest possible recommendation!

As life-long road bikers, my husband and I appreciated the quality of Cordillera Bike’s equipment: new, clean and well-maintained. The seats on the more expensive rentals were very nice. We had a beautiful day for riding —late March 64 degrees. Although very windy in Bariloche, the circuito was protected by hills and forests. The 16-mile route was very hilly and challenged our lowest gears repeatedly. We were warned against dangerous traffic in the last segment, but it wasnt a problem on that Saturday afternoon. Bus 20 from Bariloche stops right across the road from this business. It is an easy bus ride that comes every 20 minutes. The tourist office in Bariloche will explain how to purchase a ride card. The bikes were $20 each for a half-day, though the ride itself took only 2.5 hrs (they say to allow 4 hrs). A fun, scenic ride. No one at this business spoke much English that day, and they did not answer an earlier email of mine with questions; however all were friendly and helpful in person

Hola Kelly, Thank you for your review. I'm glad to know you spent a good time riding in our area. However, for some details on your review, I guess you did not ride with us. We are 100 mts away from the bus stop, we recommend to start riding the heavy traffic part of the loop, for safety reasons. We all do speak English, we answer all the emails and finally we charge less than U$S 20. Anyway, we will be waiting you on your next visit to Bariloche. By the way, there many other and so nice options to cycle in this area! ;) Gracias! Daniel de Vries, Cordillera Bike team

My wife and I decided to make this trip and wondered whether we could go road biking. To our great suprise we discovered Daniel at Cordileira Bike. From our first email contact he helped us plan the trip with all the routes and offered us his support with a support car. Each day Daniel would meet us at our hotel and guided and supported us thru our pre-determined routes, including pit stops in wonderful places with healthy and delicious food and drinks. We spent 3 days biking and the high points were Ruta de Los 7 Lagos and the climb to the Chilean Border. We recommend Daniel very highly and cant wait to come back.

Great time cycle touring in loop from Bariloche. Daniel arranged good quality MTBs with panniers and front bag, spent a lot of time helping us to plan the route and gave great assistance in booking ferries to return to Bariloche. He even came to meet us from the ferry ! Fantastic service. Thanks
