As others have said, do the hike “por el filo” version if you like a little adventure and have a head for heights and somewhat exposed trails. It’s a different experience, loved it, did it twice. From the base of Cerro Catedral, take the lift up, then another… Then to find the beginning of the walk you may have to... More

Hiked up and down the mountain to R. Frey (not up the lift as was told the cross over to the refugio is quite difficult and for advanced hikers). The hike took about 4 hours up and you are rewarded with gorgeous views along the way, but the view of the lake at the top is breathtaking! And it is... More

Killer salami and cheese sandwich on fresh bakes bread for only 60 pesos ! wowowow Great people running the place and much more affordable than what I saw in El Bolson. Highly recommend. Epic views and plenty of climbers to watch while you enjoy lunch in the sun :)

A nice 3.5 hour or so hike, the majority is not so challenging. The end gets a little steep uphill but not bad. The refugio at the top serves sandwiches and pizza.

If you like to hike this is an epic hike. We took the tram and chairlift to get us nearer the top of the ski area, it was worth the $20 per person and really cool to ride in a tram built in 1956 and still in operation. Go to the ticket window to buy a ticket and find out... More

Beautiful day-hike with a lot of great views en idyllic scenery. We took bus 55 from the center of Bariloche to the base of Catedral. The first part of the hike towards Frey is flat and in a bit of a bush-like surrounding. After approx. 1 / 1,5 hour you will enter the forest which has a big if fairytale... More

We dropped down to Refugio Frey after crossing Catedral mountain and scrambling over rock and scree on our way down to Bariloche. We were given a warm welcome, were able to refresh with a cold beer and juice, and enjoy the view and ambience. Lovely spot staffed by nice people. Excellent.

Had a pretty short time in San Carlos de Bariloche, so I tried to get the most out of it, food and treks. Refugio Frey offers a big variety of views, especially for a one day hike! You need to register in the information in the city center. Then you need to take bus 55, costs 28 peso each direction... More

I did this hike with friends during my short trip to Bariloche. I was told it was the best hike to do in terms of look out and it did not disappointment. The hike isn't too difficult ( I did it with a sinus infection) but the last hour was probably the most difficult part. Make sure to give yourself... More

We were supposed to go for a small walk near villa catedral but went up the ski lift instead. The ski lift was pricy at $20 but totally worth it. So go. The Frey walk was done the next day and we enjoyed it. Its an easy walk but to do it in 1 day takes effort as its 20km... More
