This museum has 2 sections. A natural history one downstairs with some realistic taxidermy and brief explanations in Spanish and English. Upstairs is an historical section. The explanations are only in Spanish. However there are booklets in English which give general background but do not explain all the individual items. It is definitely worth an hour to visit.

When visiting a place where we have never been before, it's great to find a museum like this one to tell us about it. So here you can find out about the land, the climate, flora and fauna of patagonia, and also about the different human cultures that have lived here before europeans arrived - and then about these first settlers too. The informations are given also in english. Its location is perfect, right by the main square of the city - so it's easy to go there for a couple of hours after or before lunch, for instance.

This Museum is important because some pieces of history can be seen- There are some military uniforms , some photographs .
Animals of the fauna are embalmed , and something of the flora
Don´t miss is not so big but value to have an idea about the nature surrounding the National Park

A small museum but a welcome relief in a very commercial Bariloche.
Quite a lot of local and regional info and facts.
It would help to have good Spanish here to make the most of it.

It is a nice place with an incredible lake view. You can also take some dogs ( San Bernard or Belgian Shepherd ).

This is a small museum that offers an interesting display of the full history of Patagonia. Most of the displays are Spanish language only but it is not too difficult to get the grasp of what is being shown. Of most interest to me was the clear similarity in art and culture of the ancient people of Patagonia with the Aboriginals of Australia. At only $25 pesos it is good value for money and is distinctly different to most of the activities in Bariloche.

OK little museum about regional fauna and flora, original native inhabitants and the Europeans who started Bariloche in the late 1800s. Not a peep about the war criminals who came here after WWII and lived quite openly.

Museo de la Patagonia is a great spot if you're curious about the region's history, as well as the tribes that inhabited it, their everyday life, and the battles they had to fight.

Decent little museum in the heart of Bariloche. Was cool to see a condor (stuffed) close up to see what they actually look like and how large they are! They had a lot of interesting info about the land and animals that were nice to learn about on a rainy day. Not too expensive, but nothing too extraordinary.

A small museum located off the heavily graffiti'ed (as of Nov. 2016) Centro Civico plaza that mostly covers the indigenous peoples of Patagonia and the Spanish/Argentinian waves that came in the 1800s. Specifically, there were some informative displays about the Yamana people as well as some old uniforms and weapons from the colonial expansion era, but nothing spectacular. English information was available for those who cannot read the Spanish. The price for Argentians is super cheap and definitely worth the 45 min to 1 hour visit. The price for foreign visitors is 50 pesos, however, so perhaps not worth the visit if you are traveling on a tight budget and not extremely interested in the history of the region.

Anyone know the days and hours that the museum is open?

This museum is open on Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 19:00 PLUS Saturday 10:00 to 17:00. Closed on Sunday and Monday. We were here on Monday!!!!!
