The Upsala Glacier is one of the largest in Los Glaciares National Park. To sail through the Argentino Lake among icebergs and mountains and then visit Estancia Cristina is an interesting combination of nature, adventure, history, and pleasure. This full day program offers alternatives such as those who prefer a quite day of touring and history as well as those who look forward to activities with adventure like trekking and riding a four wheel drive. The excursions that are surrounded by the Andes mountains, glaciers and Argentino Lake leads us to get in touch with a natural, unique, remote environment, with culture and lifestyle of the pioneers and the interesting relationship of them with famous explorers of past century.

Excellent wecome by staff. Superb food, very pleasant atmosphere and first class decoration. As a regular client of Relais et Chateaux, Estancia Cristina is one of the two best hotels among the 30 ones we visited over the last 5 years the other gem being Domaine de Rochevilaine in FRance .

My son and I recently took a day-long excursion to Estancia Cristina while holidaying in Argentina. This turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip as it helped us understand early settler life in the Patagonia as explained by our entertaining and informative tour guide. The lunch at Estancia Cristina was outstanding and the 4 WD trip... More

Entire trip from morning pickup at the hotel to downtown El Calafate return was well planned. The bus ride, boat ride and the visit on the farm was wonderful. The best part was when the entire crew came out to bid farewell to all of us as we left on the boat across the lake. Very touching, personal attention.

We had 2 days in Calafate. One was dedicated to the mini-trekking. I Perito Moreno glacier (*****). The Estancia Cristina was the second best ranked experience and we decided for it. Their website is also very well designed. We went for the Discovery Experience, which seems to be the most popular. Basically you are crammed in a 4x4 truck and... More

Thank you very much for your review and recommendation! Just one remark: we offer a 3 step menu (that should be pre-booked) or the option that each visitor take their our box-lunch. We do not offer a menu at the Estancia with different options for lunch. Regards, Estancia Cristina staff. More

Wonderful experience. Sailing along Lake Argentina and seeing things is weather dependent. Takes 3 hours to get there since there is a detour into the Uppsala channel to see the glacier. The spirit and history of this Estancia are very interesting and fascinating. Take a 4 wheel ride up the mountain once you get there to a view point from... More

Strongly recommend that one does research prior to reserving. Our group of 7 adults and millennials went for the 5 hour hike; a beautiful journey that had views of Upsala Glaciar at the beginning but massive vistas that was an archeologist's dream. Valleys of fossils, mountains that had been connected to North America and Africa at one time, amazing rock... More

This excursion is predominantly a boat ride across the lake, accounting for 6-7 hours of the trip, depending on weather. Beware that if it is windy (which it almost always is in Patagonia) the boat ride can be very rough. On our trip many of the passengers became seasick. The "Discovery expedition" is a 4x4 ride up the mountain to... More

Great day overall. Boat rice to the estancia is a three hour journey where you will see lots of icebergs and the first peek at the Upsala Glacier. Nice to have a snack of coffee, tea and medialunas along the way. At the Estancia, we saw the garden, the restaurant and the sheep shearing shed. I wish that the guide... More
