We found this tour operator online after doing some research. They are based in Ushuaia and have a booth at the tourist pier. You get picked up there and are driven about 90 km to Estancia Haberton where we got taken by boat to an...More

This was the most fun experience, completely awesome. Our guides, Valentin and Karla were amazing: friendly, informative, and extremely engaging. The penguins are such a delight. The cruise over and back was very pretty. We brought lunch, and enjoyed eating with gorgeous views. But walking...More

At the dock, there are a number of small offices e different excursion and tour operators. Luckily, we chose Piratur. Piratur offers an excursion down the Beagle Channel all the way to the Estancia Harberton. While other tour operators offer this voyage, Piratur offers something...More

When you visit the Ushuaia tourist office you'll find there are various tours that take you onto the Beagle channel. Of the non-private tours, Piratour offers the most comprehensive one for 2500 pesos (and 20 pesos port fee). Just a note: this tour takes you...More

This tour is a must-do if you are in Ushuaia. Loved starting the day by heading out of Ushuaia via boat. We stopped to see cormorants and sea lions along the way to Estancia Harberton. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Walking with the Gentoo...More

Book this tour...it was the best thing we did in Argentina!! The boat ride out to Martillo Island was beautiful (and no need to do another boat tour of the Beagle Channel)...you'll see the lighthouse, sea lions, and millions of birds. Our captain even stopped...More

This was one of the best tours I have been on and it was great to walk right next to the Gentoo and Magellanic penguins and watch them play and talk to each other. There was a great vista stop seeing the beautiful national park...More

Can someone let me know if the Pira tour to Martillo island operates on all days of the week? Also how early do you have to look into booking the tickets to be sure to get a reservation. Thanks in advance.

I believe they plan to go daily, but weather Is a factor. We booked the day before and got the last places. Try to book as soon as you can.

Hi, What is the best way to book this tour in advance? We are considering taking a 14-hour bus ride to Ushuaia just to see the Penguins, but have had no luck getting a response from Pira Tours either through their website or Facebook page, and would not make the trip unless we can go on the tour. Have other visitors just shown up and booked the day of? Would it be worth travelling to Ushuaia just for the penguins, or what other activities would you suggest. We would have about 2 and a half days there before returning to Buenos Aires.
