To my wife and I the real spirit of visiting here was its amazing historical history and a trip out on the boat to see the birds, seals, etc. brought what it must have been like on HMS Beagle and all the other explorers. The island we walked round reminded me of the west coast of Scotland, that might be... More

If you are in Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel is its history. A must see/do if you have come this far the the end of the world. Yes it is a body of water but the history surrounding it is what makes this a must do.

We took a few hour cruise to some of the islands on the Beagle Canal to see lots of birds and seals. The sights of the canals and surrounding mountains and views of Ushuaia from the water are incredible on a nice day. We also enjoyed getting great photos of the birds and seals. There are lots of options in... More

In a matter of 2 hours and a half (there are other kinds of tour but that's the one we did), navigating on the Beagle channel is an absolute must-do. The vegetation on the Bridges islands reminds me of those primeval landscapes such as those one can find in Scotland (for exemple). We had the opportunity to observe the local... More

As one sails through this passage one cannot help but picture the passage made by much smaller ships at a time when neither charts, nor gps, nor modern navigation instruments were available. Even in summer, with gentle winds, there is a sense of menace from the surrounding hills. One can easily imagine what it must have been like to sail... More

There are several tour companies at the port from whom you can buy tickets to cruise the channel. You then have to go to the port office and pay a fee. We visited the lighthouse with sea lions before continuing on to the Penguins at Martillo island. They docked at the hacienda for the optional ranch tour before heading back.

Was a really nice catamaran. Had good facilities and a small bar/restaurant. They just pack too many people on it. There is someone narrating the tour, loudly. Meaning that those who want to talk are in competition with those who are want to know more about the wildlife. There wasn't a lot of room to take pictures. People with the... More

We booked a trip with catamaran canoeiros. It was not cheap, but it was worth it! It was beautiful! We saw lots if birds, little penguins, sea lions, the lighthouse, beautiful landscapes and... a whale! (I think that is rare) The weather was sunny and not too cold, I think with bad weather I would have been less enthousiastic. We... More

2 hour return trip on a catamaran sailing of Ushuaia along the Beagle Channel, past the most southern lighthouse in the world to small islands inhabited with sea lions and cormorants by the thousand. You can travel on the open deck of the boat but you do need to wrap up warm - great and better views than from inside... More
