You get charged for parking and using the showers by the village.. the bigger the car the bigger the fee too. We had 3 cars and had to pay for each car. It was 50 dollars for a normal car and 60 for the truck..what a rip off. I reckon this beach is overrated but was something my family wanted to tick off the bucket list. You do get a fale for free though and can stay as long as you want but charging people 50-60 dollars seems ridiculous. The water was a nice aqua colour but rough because of the weather during our visit. There are shells too when going into the water. So just something to be aware of if you have young children. Get them to wear aqua socks. Also don't bother going to the restaurant next to the beach cause you'll be waiting for an hour for an over priced meal that isn't even worth your money🤦♀️ we would've made it back to Apia by the time the food there was made🤦♀️ probs wont go there again tbh.

Beach was lovely, nothing particularly amazing for the hype. Worst part was parking up and being approached and money demanded 50 tala, there were no signs so hard to know what is right. It seems it should be 10 tala, feel somewhat ripped off, and that locals are just there to get money from tourists. Wont be going back to that beach, it's a very unwelcoming approach.
We'd have returned a few times and spent money there eating but it felt like a mafia beach, their entry rules are very unfriendly, left us both with a bad feeling after what should have been a nice day !

It’s literally amazing but as soon as you get out of your car “that’ll be 10 tala, 5 tala, 20 tala….” I would rather get a day pass at return to paradise, or stop at seabreeze resort for lunch.
The people who run the Fales at lalomanu beach really don’t seem to want tourists there. We certainly didn’t feel welcomed. We stayed for 5 minutes because there was a massive rip and it was too dangerous to swim. And while the fales were all empty, apparently they were all taken. Hardly a hello/Talofa or a smile from the people running it. Just wanted the 10 tala for walking on the sand

Probably one of the best beaches in the world. Always peaceful, calm, never overun with tourists. Seems like Samoa is just a hidden gem in the Pacific. Water is so crystal clear. Combined with the warm sun, it is magnificent. If youre on a budget, Taufua Beach Fales is great.

This was my second time here, so I knew what to expect, but I was nonetheless still blown away by how beautiful this beach is. The only thing I noticed that was new (post tsunami) was signs pointing to evacuation routes across the street up onto the hillside, which was great. We rented a fale, picnicked, and snorkeled. A storm blew past, but quickly, and didn’t detract from a great time.

We were staying at TauFua & swam at the beach a few times a day. Not a lot of fish to see snorkeling but so warm & quite clear. Went for a big walk along the beach, sat in one of the fales & immediately a man comes over, to charge us we assumed so we left! Four local dogs followed us the whole way.

Highly recommended to any visitor to the Samoan islands. The view you see in pictures is what you get. The ocean is much warmer than the Hawaiian waters due to its location near the equator. Take it from a local who now lives in the USA. Don’t be surprise to find out there are separate families who owns separate traditional beach fale/huts located on the same beach. The beach is shared and part of customary land belonging to separate local families. The small fee that you pay for parking or to use the facilities goes to support these local family owners. The traditional beach fale/huts are painted in separate colors for owners identification purposes. So when you pay the parking or usage fee, make sure it goes to the right local owner. A few of the complaints I’m reading here regarding fees comes from visitors misunderstanding these facts. By the way, these traditional Samoan beach fale/huts are very popular with backpackers and budget travelers who likes to spend a few nights sleeping literally on the beach. An experience not to be miss.
Swimming near the beach is safe, but beware when snorkeling far out near the reef, there is a slight undercurrent especially when the tide is going out. If you’re looking for a good place to snorkel, I highly recommend Palolo Deep Marine reserve. I hope that helps and enjoy your visit.

So very very disappointed. We hired a car as we were staying in Apia and drove to the other side of the island specifically as my son wanted to see the beach he had seen in all the advertising. I had read on hear some 'cheeky' prices asked by local community to swim here. However, nothing could have prepared me for the $30 tala price we were given, for two people. Needless to say, we didn't pay it and drove away. Our whole week in Samoa we didn't get to swim on the beaches, just the fresh water spots and the trench

Went here to enjoy a lovely day at the beach and a local came by telling us we had to pay 10 tala we stupidly gave her the money and she never came back with our change... turns out we didn’t need to pay anyone to be on the beach! Not bothered though her Karma will come her way. Totally dampened the memories of what is a lovely beach! #beware

We stopped here for lunch & a midday swim & wee blown away by the beautiful beach. The water is crystal clear, the sand lovely & white & the beach is scattered with brightly coloured fales. We could have stayed all day!

This is a beach, not a resort. You'll have to find on of the accommodation providers in Lalomanu and ask them :)

We are staying in Apia, hiring a car and intend to drive out to Lalomanu to spend the day. Is it free access to the beach? Are there fales or shaded areas as we will have our baby with us. Thank you

Hi Motown, there is a stretch of the beach that is free with palm trees for shade. We went to a restaurant for lunch and had to pay 5 tala per person to access there private beach. In comparison it’s like two dollars so no big deal. There was good snorkeling and wonderful views. I wish we spent more time there. Watch out for pigs when driving thru villages

Hola buenas ,somos un matrimonio de mediana edad que tenemos pensado viajar a Samoa el año que viene,y tengo algunas dudas y me gustaria que alguien pudiera ayuadarme.....La pregunta es la siguiente,para poder acceder a qualquier playa en Samoa hay que pagar entrada ? se paga por visitar qualquier atraccion que desees visitar en Samoa?es que hace una semana que hemos llegado de Indonesia y alli se paga por todo,tanto visitas a cascadas como entradas a playas....Cuando en mi pais el acceso a playas i cascadas es totalmente gratuito,agradeceria respuestas y consejos sobre precios,nivel de vida.etc,tec.

Sí, muchas de las playas, cascadas, y otras attracciones pertenecen a las familias o a los pueblos, y no al gobierno. Por eso pueden cargar una entrada. Normalmente no cuesta mucho, unas 5-10 tala por cada persona. No sé de donde eres, pero yo soy de los EEUU, y el cambio de dinero es muy favorable al dolar. To parece muy barato cuando estamos en Samoa.
Siento por mi español, casi no lo he hablado desde 2004!

yes snorkling gear and sit on top kayaks are available for a small fee. Money is in SAT (Samoan Tala) currency.

We will be arriving by cruise ship. How far is it to this beach and what is the best way to get there?
Are taxis readily available. It will be our Coral wedding Anniversary on the day we visit so would like to spend it at a special place.

Hi Sue , We have just been and drove all over both Islands. It is about an hour drive at least to Lalomanu from where the ship will dock. From the dock you can get a hire company to meet you with a car and drive out to Lalomanu or head off in a Taxi. We had a car. Driving is great we loved it, waving and stopping and mucking about. It means you can stop and go other places as well if you like and drive slowly taking in the feel of Samoa- If you have one day then you should visit To Sua trench which is on the way to Lalomanu and should not be missed. If you choose to get a taxi just make sure you agree the fare first and see if they will wait for you if you will only be a few hours- or they might come back at an agreed time. People are very flexible in Samoa- But you must only do this if you don't mind waiting, you will be on Samoa time possibly depending on the driver. When you are at Lalomanu there is swimming and eating to do. It is very beautiful, but the menu will be limited as there is not always all the food choices you want as it is at the far end of a pacific Island. Any Fish dish will be remarkable. For a top notch meal you might like to visit Saletonga Resort which is on the way and between Lalomanu and To Sua. Their food and ambience is really great. There will be live music probably aweseom cocktails and a brilliant pool.Best place on that side if rating by "resort" style. You will pass resorts on the way from the port to Lalomanu so you could choose others too. Lalomanu is spectacular, we spend about 3 hours there which was more than enough for us. In saying that we had slent days relaxing- so if you want to take a book and do nothing all day- great choice. there is also an abandoned leper colony there that you can take tours through- you might like to look into this before you go.PLease let me know if I can help you with anything else.
