This museum has every type of musical instrument known to man, and you get to listen to most of them with your own headphones. Very unique place.

If you were in Phoenix for only one day and could only visit one tourist point of interest, this would be the place. I have visited many times. There is no other museum like this in the World (I have been to the Musical Instrument Museum in Hamamatsu Japan). The exhibits are superb and I especially enjoy being able to... More

A MUST SEE for all ages. Top level organized by region aids discovery of geographical influences. Bottom level has experience room for the tactile learners and also fascinating collection of wears from of both historical and current musicians.

I have signed up for their emails for advance notice of their excellent concerts. All that I have attended there have been wonderful, even though I may not have heard of them before.

I enjoyed going to the MIM. There were a few things that I could remember from growing up. There are also a lot of interesting things from around the world. The only change that I would make is to make it more of a comparison between different parts of the world at the same time. The room with different instruments... More

What a great museum, the exhibits are well done and extensive. Give yourself a full day to truly explore this place. The building from the outside looks so plain yet the interior is very beautiful and well layed out. A complete treat, can't wait to come back.

A few interesting exhibits, including some devoted to real pioneers of US musical genres. And musical curiosities like the theremin and musical machines room were engaging. But in the end, the exhibits become tiresomely repetitive. How many times do you need to see an animal skin stretched over wood to make a drum? And the presentation of several modern instruments... We visited with my in-laws, 23 and 17 year old sons, husband and myself. The collection is overwhelming.the traveling exhibit Dragons and Vines was our favorite.

We visited on a rainy day along with hundreds of other people trying to find something to do on a wet day. The line to buy tickets was long but moved smoothly. We didn't feel crowded and really enjoyed the exhibits. You wear headphones and each display has a TV playing a video and as you walk near the music... More

What a truly amazing place! Musical instruments of every conceivable design, from every region of the globe. All beautifully displayed. Listening devices are included with the price of admission, and activate automatically when near video screens, allowing you to listen to the instruments as well as see them. Plan to spend several hours.
