This was our second time to hike this trail up Camelback. We usually do the more forgiving triail, Cholla. However we did enjoy the challenge of this trail. And there is a parking lot at the trailhead and restrooms. And we saw a park ranger here on the trail as well. This trail is labeled "extremely difficult" so use caution.... More

This is the main trail up Camelback Mountain. It is a great hike. I highly suggest going up this trail, then down the Cholla trail on the other side, and take an Uber back to your car in the Echo Canyon parking area.

On our recent visit to Phoenix we stayed at an Airbnb near the Phoenician Resort. My wife dropped me off at the Echo Canyon trailhead. I hiked up the Echo Canyon trail and down the Cholla trail and then back to our place on city streets. It took almost 3 hours and was about 5 miles total. There were about... More

I am afraid I may not be the best help on this one, as it was a bit out of my league. Even the most seasoned looked tired on the way back. We completed the easiest part of the hike, and it was well worth it. This hike is within walking spdistance of Sanctuary Resort and is a nice walk.... More

Spent half a day here with my 6 year old daughter who had a blast going to the top! People on the trail were High 5ing her more and more as we got to the top. Definitely a day to remember. Remember to bring plenty of water.

One of the prettiest areas in all of the Phoenix metro area. The northwest corner of Camelback Mountain is a little bit of Sedona dropped in Phoenix. Beautiful for the eyes plus completely updated recently. Limited parking so always good to get there early.

Incredible hike. It is "extreme" as the trail signs warn. But if you are in decent shape you'll have no problem. Best to go early in the morning when it isn't too hot and the sunlight is best for photography. I did it one way, hiking the 1.2 miles up the Echo Canyon trail, and 1.4 miles down the Chollo... Our hotel manager suggested the Echo canyon hike to see the sunset views. The hike is very strenuous but well worth it for the views. Few of my friends didn't want to hike all the way up so they stayed by Echo saddle area while I hiked up. I couldn't make it all the way up and since I was... More

Great trail, good workout, a great Arizona experience. The Echo Canyon Trail was recently renovated and is amazing! Lots of people! Not so much parking but better than before the renovation. Bring lots of water no matter what time of year you go!
