Hike it!

2000 feet of elevation in 2.2 miles! Amazing! Highly recommend this hike. It's strenuous and is a long 2.2 miles straight up. And the way down is fun but not easy on the knees!

Honestly, this was my most memorable experience in Sedona by far. Although this tough rocky, steep path may be difficult, it definitely pays off. With a 360 degree view with a perfect line of sight of amazing landscapes. A big shoutout to The Hike House for mentioning this to us and what to look out for while on the trail.

Do your self a favor, with a trail/hike/climb that warrants the effort. I would say this is a moderate hike/trail, with stunning views. Without stops would have taken us about 3.5 hours up and down. About 2 up and 1.5 down. But the views make you stop to take it all in. You have to be in good shape to... More

Hey we wanted to do a difficult hike in the Sedona area and we did it. Bear Mountain Trail is a beauty, starting off with a expansive view of the mountain - and if you look closely, you can see the ultimate destination that is three false summits away. :) This hike starts off relatively easy, but quickly goes up.... Am by no means a hiker so offering an opinion with that caveat. Challenging uphill terrain with sections where you are not sure if you are where you are supposed to be. I loved it. She not so much. Views are beautiful and the noises of the wings are awesome. Estimate of five hours to complete is a bit generous... More

Off of Boyton Pass road just outside of Sedona, a great moderate ability hike with views in all directions once you hit top. Bring your camera and lots of water. And a nice lunch !

From someone with Scottish Mountain experience, this was something a bit different. There is talk of difficulty on the blog, but to put this in context, it is probably about as strenuous as Ben Vorlich or Schiehallion. Certainly nothing like Ben More or Ben Lomond in terms of wasting your legs for a few days. Not much exposure, you will... More

I happen to love hiking Bear Mountain sheerly for the challenge and views. But be advised that once you reach the end of the trail, it's kinda like it just ends still on the upward slope. Might be I missed something but I've hiked it 3 times and never find a really comfortable place out of the sun to rest.... More

Even if you don't have time to reach the top (2.5 hours up / 1.5 hrs down), the view from the first of three summits is well worth the time plus it's a well marked safe trail. My boyfriend did it twice on our trip. Just make sure you bring enough water - 2 water bottles each is not going... More

My wife and I did this during our vacation out to Sedona and it was a very hot day. For this one make sure to bring plenty of water and a good attitude as the trail has about 4 peaks to get past for the final 'End of Trail' sign. Overall it is a long hike and fairly strenuous but... More
