Beautiful Drive

This drive can get a bit congested but it is beautiful. A very nice mixture of rock formations and plant life. The colors change constantly based on lighting conditions.

We recommend this route over 89 A., more scenic and less commercial. Some nice hiking in Oak Creek area.

Only way I went, so who knows. This way into Sedona is just breathtaking--hard to keep eye on road. Drive slowly; take your time; you're almost to the town. Check altitude--reason why the music stations kept cutting out.

The first time we drove from Phoenix to Sedona we did so at night - HUGE mistake! Take this drive during the day and you will experience some of the most scenic views the Red Rocks have to offer. While travelling, you have opportunities to pass through areas noted for dispersing vortex energies, see quaint towns, experience fine art galleries... More

Absolutely beautiful and scenic drive leading to the red rocks of Sedona. We took the trip today and we throughly loved the lazy drive. The drive offers stunning views of mountains, Oak Creek, and the red rocks. A return to the byway is a no-brainer.

We drove through here recently and stopped several times to take in the magnificent, picturesque landscape and scenery. A magnificent part of the world to admire.

This is really only about a 25 mile stretch of scenic road through the Coconino Forest and the amazing Red Rock area around Sedona. Spectacular drive though. Even if you aren't going to stay in Sedona, and are just heading south on 17, it would be a worthwhile diversion. If you are staying in the Red Rock/ Sedona/ Oak Creek... More

This is a short drive before driving to Sedona from south. We drove passing some shops and motels in area of village of oak creek, then we felt getting closer to bell rocks. Also there're some scenic view points on the way for stop and hikes.

In Sedona the fantasy is usually at mid-distance, but on the Scenic Byway, it is much more able to be enjoyed in better detail. The morning sun angle on the water draining over the red rock cliffs after the storm looked like ice. There WAS snow on the higher reaches. Even though there was a fair amount of sunday/holiday traffic,... More

There aren't enough words to capture the beauty of this area! Lots of areas to pull off and take in the view and for taking pictures. We drove from Phoenix and went to the Red Rock Loop first then to Sedona and then South on the Bypass. I would recommend doing the reverse so that you are driving North towards... More
