Good brew
Apr 2021
This place was on several 'must do' lists for visiting the Show Low area. So we did. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM. The place sits on a ranch/farm type property outside of Show Low city limits. When we arrived they had several groups there, so it appeared to be a popular place! We found some outdoor seating with our pup and got a couple of 16 oz beers - a Whiskey Red and a Dirty Blonde. Both were scrumptious. We did not stay long, as it was windy... and we are old and needed naps. I will say if I lived in this area, I could see myself hanging out here often and supporting this brewery. Definitely a must do if you are in the area.

Afternoon delight - beer, cheesesteaks, and dogs
Jun 2020 • Couples
Really, it doesn’t get a lot better than a sunny afternoon with craft beer, delicious food, pups, and casual conversation. The beer here is masterfully brewed. The Whiskey Red was very tasty. We brought home a growler of Kaos IPA (that’s Chaos but more fun) - a wonderful dark beer with a bit of chocolate and/or coffee tones. The cheesesteak food trailer grills up an amazing (and huge) Philly or Jersey sandwich. The human brewmaster is a friendly host as is his trusted sidekick brewpup, Comet. Take the time to visit and sit awhile.

Good beer at the Black Horse Brewery
Aug 2019 • Friends
I was in the Show Low area to work on an old CCC building for Passport in Time/Historicorps and thought a craft beer would taste good after work. I decided to have a flight and just asked the owner to give me the beers that he thought were a good representation of their product. He did not disappoint me with his selection. I enjoyed them all. On Friday the rest of our work crew stopped in for an end of the week beer. Nice place to relax.

Wonderful brewery hidden away on a country lane.

Stopped here yesterday afternoon to meet up with friends after work. Nice selection of brews.
If you are uncertain, start with a flight selection. The host also offered up taste samples. Small bar area but additional seating in an adjacent game room and a pleasant outdoor patio. This brewery does not have a sign on highway 260, so watch for the street sign to turn off onto a small country lane. Friendly service, great brews, and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth the visit but check the limited days and hours.

So you need a beer in Show Low, AZ? You end up on TripAdvisor and Black Horse Brewery pops up in the results. If you're like me you dont really know the area and since Black Horse is only 10 minutes from the main road, Duece of Clubs, you hop in the car and let the GPS guide you to a cold beer. Then you end up parking your car next to a beautiful house and cool looking barn/shop-looking building. Go inside the barn, and meet the UNBELIEVABLY kind people who make the beer and are generous enough to let us have some. There were 13 choices today. Don't know what you want? Ask for a taste. You will find at least 2 that you'll want a pint of. Go ahead, get both. Sit outside, sit inside, or take a growler home. We did all three. Eat before you go, or better yet, they let you bring your own food. Kick back, say hi to the super nice doggies, and enjoy a local beer.

We loved this place. Good beer and soda and good music and good vibes. It is only open a few nights a week so check before you go. Pets are welcome.

Local beer is always the better option
Jun 2018 • Couples
Any time you can leave the big foreign beers behind in favor of a local small batch it is a good drinking experience. BHB has a decent variety for a smaller operation. Have tried 4 so far. No favorite or must have, but always have been tasty. Selection changes so repeat visits are worthwhile. The tasting room(s) are industrial, but the patio is fun. Watch for special events. Great food truck to complete the afternoon or evening. Easy going staff a plus for change of pace to the restaurant git them in get them out normal.

The bark beer is strong and cold. The owners are real nice. And friendly, take a designated driver.
We will be back.

Good beer in Linden, AZ. Bring your growler!
May 2018 • Couples
Stopped at Blackhorse after reading about it on T/A and having a local friend tell us about it. The day we stopped, there was no sign along the highway but look for Burton Road at mile marker 333. Brewery is 1/4 mile down the road, can't miss it.

There were a few people there the day that we stopped and we had a good time. The owner gave us a taste of their beers as it was our first time in and told us the history of their brewing. Ended up going home with growler of IPA.

They have some simple snacks but have a grill so you can bring your own food and grill it if you'd like. They will also be having special events throughout the year with some food and entertainment so be sure to check them out.

Overall it was a great experience. Will definitely be stopping each time we are on our way to or returning from Showlow.
