Went here hoping for a vies at dusk, but did not account for the long walk. By the time we got there it was to dark to see anything but the glow.

it is amazing, you need to walk at least one hour to find a lava on the ground (toward to the mountain) but it is worse it. I don't recommend wear shorts, just coz if you fall, sharp lave will get you. Just watch very...More

I am sure it would now be closed. The rangers at the national park visitor center seem to be an excellent source of information about where to view lava safely.
