Don't go here.
Mar 2021 • Couples
Extremely rude staff. Have a feeling the checker (old white man, khaki pants, tucked in black grand canyon shirt, grey hair wearing a mask just over his nose) didn't like the fact that we were an interracial couple. Very high prices ($66 for bacon, sausage, cheese, bread, Lettuce and tomatoes, yikes). ALL cartons of eggs were expired by at least 2 days. It's the only place around (hello, price gauging!!) where we were camping so we didn't have a choice. So my suggestion is - plan to shop somewhere else. We will never be going back.

Great grocery store and more
Nov 2019
In the first shopping center you come to after exiting Grand Canyon National Park is the Tusayan General Store. Not only a great grocery store with all you would expect and more, there is a Starbucks adjacent with an entrance in the store. About half of the square footage is souvenirs and clothing, along with travel necessities you may have left home without. The prices are better here than anyplace else in town for souvenirs and t-shirts. Plus any food or supplies you need for your stay or continued travels, this is the place. The service was amazing as well, the gentleman who checked us out took the extra time to really wrap and secure my purchases so nothing would get damaged on the way home. I really appreciated that!

Pricey but to be expected

I got a microwave dinner and a microwave burrito for $10. Was ok. Everything is pricey near the Grand Canyon.

Expensive but decent choice
Sep 2019
So not only is it an expensive store but it's a store in Tusayan which makes it even more expensive. Having said that we only went for some essentials for snacks, and the staff on the check out were very pleasant. I would use them again if I was in the area.

Great for last minute food, drinks, snacks and souvenirs
Sep 2019 • Family
Stopped in general store to grab some waters and snacks for a day of sightseeing.

Ended up going back to store every day as the general store has pretty much everything you need packed into a smaller footprint than your average grocery store.

It also is attached to Starbucks so you can grab some good high test coffee!

Use the general store as all purpose shopping. They have food and beverages, snacks and souvenirs, and also sell alcohol if you like. They ice and last minute clothes if you forgot something.

Expect to pay above average prices as the town charges a premium on regular items because of the remote location.

Check the prices

We got a gallon of water and an 8 oz bottle of NyQuil. It was $19.85
I literally had to pick my jaw off the floor. That’s price gouging.

Fort Knox with jailers
Nov 2018 • Couples
It was like Fort Knox getting some cheap Canadian Mist whiskey. All bottles of liquor have ankle braclets. Clerk loves to bang the bottle to remove the ankle bracelet. She said it was a good anger outlet (I swore she creeped me out, maybe she is trying to escape). Convienent but store staff not very friendly (more like jailers making sure you don't steal and move along with the process). Went back to exchange a diet 2 liter coke for a regular and it was like closing on a home sale. They act like they are doing me a favor for being there. Have some respect when I come in and drop a $100 dollars on your merchandise.

For nude shoppers only
Nov 2018 • Solo
Only if you need the bare essentials, otherwise you will pay through the nose and more.
Still it was fun to carefully inspect every aisle to acquire the most necessary products. Unlikely i will be back unless a bear strips me bare.

Rude

We visited the Tusayan general store to shop for souvenirs. I’m assuming the man was the manager yelled at us and said “we are closing GET OUT!” As we were walking out of the door I mentioned to him that he should work on his customer service skills. He then yelled at me and told me to sit on it. All of this in front of my 6 year old. Horrible place! There’s a general store inside the park just about 7 miles away I recommend using instead of this horrible place!

We needed some snacks and The General store has a selection of snacks, drinks, ready made sandwiches, a dairy section, meats etc. Useful shop to have near The Grand Canyon south rim entrance to stock up on a few goodies.
