When Sam Walton opened his 5&10 on the Bentonville town square in 1950, he had no idea he'd planted the seeds for what would become the global leader in retail, saving millions of people money so they could live better. Today, that humble little dime store is the location of The Walmart Museum. A family-friendly experience in 3 parts, the Museum features a world-class exhibit gallery, Walton's 5&10, and The Spark Cafe.

It was fascinating to walk through the history of Walmart from its humble beginnings to the present. The museum helps deflect the unfair potshots taken at the company because of its enormous success. The company deserves praise for using free enterprise to improve everyone's lives - customers, competitors, and employees, not just the Walton family.

It was a great stop in Bentonville. We enjoyed learning more about Sam Walton, his family and the history of Walmart. A great story of how hard work and dedication pays off. The best part of the story is how much the Walton family supports the community and its Walmart employees. There was a cute ice cream shop at the... More

It is an overly positive homage to the history of Walmart. There are some interesting displays, a gift shop and a cafe/ice cream shop.

The Walmart museum is great. You can see Mr Sam's truck, his office, and many other displays and movies that portray the history of Walmart. When finished step over to the ice cream parlor and/or the gift shop. Kids will love it.

I loved the Walmart Museum in Bentonville, AR. The museum takes you through a timeline from the very beginnings of Wal-Mart through present day. It was very interesting to look back and see memories of how Wal-Mart has changed since I was a child. The museum was also free! It is totally worth the visit!

Regardless of your personal opinion of the world's largest retailer, The Walmart Museum is a great historical attraction to visit. It is completely free and is has lots of great information and relics of Walmart's early years. Some of the best museum pieces include: Sam's Presidential Medal of Freedom, an original door from his first retail store (the other one... More

Well, I now know more about Sam Walton than I ever thought I would. Tons of information on Walmart and how it became what it is now. Really cool five and dime store at the start. But, the crown jewel is the working Ice Cream/Soda shop at the end. Huge 2 scoop cone for under $2.00. Well worth the time... More

Wow! Sam Walton was quite the entrepreneur. He did amazing things over his lifetime and created quite the empire. This museum encapsulates the whole history from the time Mr. Walton got out of the war, to meeting his wife, to owning a Ben Franklin, all the way to the present. It is a lot of reading - so beware if... More

If you find yourself in downtown Bentonville, then a quick stop in the Walmart Museum is worth the visit. It is free and you walk in through the gift shop which is stocked with some rarely seen, old-time candies for sale! If you rmember Chuckles, then this is your place. The exhibits give a great, nostalgic view of what Sam... More

Old time dime store feel, some fun shopping up front with cheap candy and toys. Cool historical walk through of how wal mart grew.
