Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful church in the heart of a small Mayan town called Santa Catarina Palopa. The town is filled with artisans and their work. The church is lively and welcoming. I happened to get stuck in San Antonio after dark and was unable to find a pick up truck or tuk tuk back to Pana. My friend randomly asked a man in San Antonio for some help getting back to Pana, and it turns out he is the local priest. He was so kind and gave us a ride and told us all about the history of the church. It's a lovely place.

This place is very nice and quiet!! Is one of the small towns around the Atitlan Lake . You walk around and find houses, there is a church, persons making typical Guatemalan´s Crafts. There are hotels where you can stay, but I can suggest you two. Villas del Caribe, is a hotel very comfortable with a restaurant and a pool (but you don´t use it because the place is cold and the pool too-12 a 18 celsius) the rooms are clean and comfortable, they don´t have TV. But if you want a bigger hotel and modern there is the Palopo´s but it is really expensive, but is worthy though...In this small town you can sit in front of the lake, rest, and plan your whole life!!! And book a small ship in the lake to visit the others towns around.

Santa Catarina was definitely worth the visit. The church was very pretty, but the highlight of visiting this village was to just let time pass and not have anything on the agenda. There was not much to do, so we spent some time with friendly local women watching them work and talking to them, then went for lunch to Restaurante Catarina, probably the only one in this sleepy town, but it was what we needed. 3 tables, great view at the church and plaza in front of it. We ordered chicken and fish, then watched a girl running to get the fish. In the meantime we enjoyed our beer and the slow pace of life. Food when it arrived was very tasty. Nothing extraordinary but we really enjoyed our time and meal in that tiny restaurant.

This church is just behind the central San Pedro market.
A good place to sit and watch the comings and goings of the great people in San Pedro.
The church attracts a varied group of practitioners.

This is a very charming little town with its bright blue embroidered huipiles. The small church in the central plaza is pure and simple. Sat there for a few minutes and was very peaceful and relaxing. Great experience!

It's always nice to visit a local church on a Sunday. It's situated centrally and there are markets towards the beach and colorful houses to photograph above it.

This small town is quiet, with a few sweet shops and places to visit, but other towns offer more to see.

The church is a short walk up from the pier and on the side of the path were numerous local people selling their locally made textiles etc.

The church was open and there were a few people rehearsing for the serviceWe looked round the small church which has an ornate altar. There was a dias/ platform in the church of Christ and the cross which I was told is carried round the village at Easter..
