Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had read about the classic book "How the Other Half Lives" but had not read about its author in detail. In Ribe I stumbled across his own museum and found it extremely informative and engaging.

Riis's biography is the classic rags-to-riches story that makes Americans believe--erroneously--that their country is the epitome of social mobility.

Jacob's own bitter experience as a poor immigrant to the US came to excellent use when he later became a journalist, photographer and public speaker. A truly amazing personal journey well told!

This is a museum which puts things in perspective, forcibly reminding the visitor where we have come from in just 120 years or so. If you are an American, or even better a New Yorker, this place is a must with its photos of the lives of the poor and destitute. Its social message is more than relevant in our times too!

I can definitely recommend visiting this remarkable museum. It tells the story of Jacob A Riis in a very thorough and interesting way. There are plenty of interactive exercises to entertain children as well as adults.

As a former photo editor, I knew the name Jacob Riis from New York City, but did not know he was born in Ribe, Denmark. Our trip through Denmark landed us in Ribe and to the Riis Museum. Fascinating story, important photographer and writer. The museum was exceptionally curated. Check it out!

After reading the biography of Jacob A Rii's life, this museum is a really good rounding of his life.

A good story all the way through the old premises.

The exhibition was organized in Jakob Riis's original home and with a view from the first floor to his beloved Elisabeth's garden on the other side of the river. The film in room 3 was a good intro to the exhibition, which generally followed Tom Buk Swienty's biography of Jakob Riis' exciting life story in Denmark and the USA.
