Beautiful church in the outside. Worth the visit once. Big and majestic inside and very quiet and peaceful. It's right in the middle of the city. Wished there was descriptions in English.

St Catherine's church in Oppenheim is a complete must if travelling in that area. In fact, visit the old town too with its labyrinth under the city, its ancient market place and 17th century town hall. You could be mistaken for believing you are back in the middle ages. The church is said to be the most beautiful in the... More

Enjoyed a christmas concert in this basilika and the acoustics were fantastic. Especially enjoyed the organ music. Took more time afer the concert to view the circular, coloured glass window. Will definitely return.

My cousin suggested we go to this church and I'm so glad we did. It is an old church with wonderful stonework. Don't miss the bone yard at the side of the church. There are supposed to be the bones of about 20,000 people from the Middle Ages laid there. It's in the old town or Alte Stadt. Makes you... More

Visiting a little one-horse town in the winelands, one's jaw drops to the floor when you enter this unbelievably beautiful cathedral with its fine detailed lead-glass stained windows, woodwork, statues, and gothic style stone gargoyles on the outside. It reminds one of the Notre D! I was stunned to stumble upon a room filled with human skulls and bones in... More

I have been bringing people to Germany for 25 years and this church has always been on the agenda. It is a very beautiful church. I love climbing the stairs up to the top of the bell tower. It has a nice pipe organ. I have been there several times when it was being played. Oppenheim is a delight to... More

We were driving the back way from Worms to Mainz and found this wonderful Gothic church. The stained glass is exceptional and lovingly maintained.

On impulse we followed the brown landmark sign from the highway to Oppenheim and St. Katharinen. Impressive cathedral, beautiful stained glass windows, interesting history. Enjoyed walking around the church and the surrounding town. Did not have time for in depth tour, but glad we took a short detour here.

Go an visit the cathedral of St. Katharinen. Beside the old town of Oppenheim this is a real highlight. Try to listen to the famous organ if possible, climb on of the church's towers to get a wonderful view over the town and the river rhine up to Frankfurt. And do not forget visiting the bone-house behind the church ...

Enjoyable 3 hours spent in this church. The expansion of the church buildings through the centuries have produced a pleasant blend of styles and tastes.
