This train ride is an absolute must if you are on Peloponnes on vacation, or just passing through. It's so beautiful, and if you have an interest in geology this must be a thrill. The kids loved it too, and if we could do it again we would have stopped midways and had a meal at the restaurant in the... More

You don't have to like trains to be impressed by this trip of an hour or so from sea level to some 700m. Now a modern train it still has to pick up the cog system to hold it to the gradient meanwhile you get a visual treat of craggy mountains, rushing water, and fields as you come up the... More

It is a unique experience. They recently upgraded the carriages and made repairs to the line. The new carriages are not as atmospheric but the trip is still fabulous.

An experience on its own. Most try the Othodotos train route at least once. The scenic route is just breathtaking. It takes about an hour and a half from Diakofto village to Kalavryta village.Price is 9 euros per person per way.

The gorge from Diakofto to Kalavryta is a very scenic route. The cog train is wonderful climbing its way inside the gorge. Must book in advance as it seems to be always crowded. It stops for 3 hours in Kalavryta , a nice but very "tourist" village.

We drove up to Kalavrita after missing the last cog train up. The Cog Railway is a special way to see views you can't see on the road. It rolls down the mountain and the ride back up is beautiful. The angle the train rides is amazing.

We went from Diakofto to Zachlorou with the first train on a Sunday in April. The train was only half full but when we returned to Diakofto we saw a big crowd waiting for the next train. The trip is spectacular and spring must be the best time for it - flowers everywhere! We paid 52 eur for a return... More
