We did the two day train trip from Athens and stopped in this museum during the second day before the trip back. The museum takes about an hour to make it through two floors. First floor is various taxidermy birds and small animals and and exhibits were done very well. The second floor is devoted to mushrooms and provides good information on various types. The gift shop is also located on the second floor where they have lots of mushroom related merchandise. Staff was really friendly and eager to help. For 6€ pp it was worth a visit.

Our family stopped at the museum when in the area to view the monasteries and it ended up being one of our main highlights! The staff is kind and highly knowledgeable, the exhibit is engaging and well curated, and the mushroom goodies in the gift shop made for some perfect souvenirs to take home to our friends. Our kids (ages 5&6) explored for a couple hours and still didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend!

A great museum especially about the mushrooms. Can't say I ever thought about mushrooms before but will going forward. A great collection and very informative. They even give you a taste of some. Nice stop after visiting the monasteries. 6 euro entry fee

A charming museum! The "jewellery" stuffed animals exhibited against the art background of their natural environment fascinated us. The mushroom museum on the second floor was extremely interesting with the information about so many different types of mushrooms and of course the way they were presented! Don't miss the shop with the friendly staff too and buy Julius Caesar's favorite dried mushrooms ;)!

Very interesting exhibits and a very spot-on and illuminating tour. The museum's guide was very good and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. At the end of the tour, you can visit the shop and choose from a wide variety of products from mushrooms to drink or eat to merch.

The whole experience was really battery-filling. The people who accompanied us in the truffle hunting were knowledgeable, more than keen to assist us with anything we needed and thumbs up to the cook who prepared an awesome meal for us. They also served wine and drinks which paired with the food. After that to wind down, we were offered a tour of the museum from a tour guide who really knew her stuff. Highly recommend it!

We had some extra hours during our visit to the Meteora and decided to go to the Natural History Museum. once there, we decided to purchase the audio guide for 2€ and we are very glad we did. The information provided by the audio tour in congection to the collection of the Museum made for a very informative and interesting visit. The young employees of the Museum answered all our questions and more, proving to be not only exceptionally knowledgable but also extremely patient, polite and communicative. The Museum itself has two sections: one is dedicated to wildlife from various parts of the world, with a focus on birds. There is a special area dedicated to the wildlife of the Meteora region. The second section of the Museum is the Mushroom Museum which we also found interesting. Do not miss the Mushroom Museum gift shop, which among others, sells chocolates with mushrooms! we purchased one and we were intrigued by how well it tasted. I would budget 1-1.5 hours if you do the audio tour.

This is definitely worth a visit, the displays are exceptional, the presentation and artwork are highly skilled and professional with lots of interesting information. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, found the staff very friendly. The shop was also very appropriate, selling items that related to the museum.

Popped into the museum on my final morning in Meteora. Truly, a hidden gem, you come here for the incredible stones but this museum shows there is much more to the area, to Greece and to the world. Taxidermy was of the best quality I think I've ever seen and the display was beautiful. The mushroom museum also, absolutely wonderful and informative. Definitely pop in here!

The museum is great for anyone who is curious about nature. Plenty of beautiful animals to see and of intriguing mushrooms to ogle at. You leave the place feeling fulfilled and curious about little things. That is also thanks to the lovely staff who are very friendly and who happily share their knowledge of the surroundings' natural life. I recommend the museum to anyone passing through the area, it is a quick visit and it will brighten your day. Lots of fun objects at the gift shop too !
