Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing old church built between the 9th and 11th century at the foot of the rocks in the center of Kalambaka. The interior is very impressive with a marble pulpit obviously built in even the 7th century and many old frescoes. Not many tourists, but instead lots of turtles in the garden. Entrance fee EUR 2.00. Toilet at the rear side.

Cost of four euros..... But if you were too drive past and missed it, that wouldn't be so bad. Closed Monday's and located north east above the village of Theopetra.

A beautiful ancient church a must visit if you find your self in Kalambaka. Old wall painting and a massive pulpit inside, you can see what has changed over its history.

The church is very quiet and peaceful place. The most astonishing thing is inside – amazing byzantine frescoes all over. Entrance was 2€.

We came by rental car and followed the blue arrow with the yellow letters--"Byzantine Church" in the town of Kalabaka. There were several routes, some on very narrow streets, so we took our time to determine the best approach. Upon reaching the church there as an ample car park. For those visiting Meteora who may be physically-challenged because of the approaches to the monasteries, this is perhaps the best option because it is a church of the period and it is easy to enter. It served as the major church of the area and dates to the 11th century. The wall paintings date to the 11th /12th century and provide a good overview of Byzantine murals of that date. Photograph¥ is not permitted and women in pants are not necessarily obliged to don wrap around skirts.

Anyone who goes to Meteora will certainly pass by this beautiful Byzantine church. Its interior holds relics in mosaics and paintings. Entrance costs 2 euros, but it is well worth visiting, as it is the oldest in the region and is very well preserved.

I visited the Holy Church again with my family on August 14th during the Solemn Vespers and the Epitaph of the Dormition, where many residents of the area and visitors were present, watching with rapt attention the services and saluting the precious icon of the Dormition, which they brought it, like every year, from the Holy Monastery of Varlaam, where it is kept.
This imposing Temple is a historical Relic and jewel for the city of Kalambaka, and a unique attraction in the family of the imposing rocks and the Holy Monasteries of Meteora.
