Beautiful area around Lake Myvatn except for the midges. They're everywhere! We could have used a little breeze. The lake is so clear you can see the bottom. Drove around the lake and lunched in Reykjahlíð. Would recommend you bring bug spray but a definite...More

We didn't spend a lot of time here as we were running out of time due to having spent quite a bit more time at Dettifoss than we had planned. The lake is beautiful and is probably worth spending time here hiking if you have...More

Hiking boots? Check. Sunglasses? Check. BUG SPRAY? Definitely! Drove the beautiful Myvatn area in September and attracted swarms of bugs, both in and out of the vehicle. Be prepared!

I was blown away by the beauty of Lake Myvatn and all that is around this place. We stayed there for almost a day and I wish to go back there as soon as I can !

We enjoyed half a day at Lake Myvatn, but you could easily spend more time depending on what you want to do. Some of the main activities include the Myvatn Nature Baths, Hverastrond Sulphur Springs, Hverfjall Crater, Dimmuborgir Rock Formations, Hofoi, and Skutustaoagigar Pseudo-craters.

The lake is lovely, but the lava formations around the lake are awesome. You can take a circle drive all around the lake, and there are places where you can stop and hike through the most interesting sites. There is a series of craters on...More

Lake Myvatn was absolutely beautiful. We didn’t stay long because we had to continue on to our next destination, but there’s lots of things to do! Be aware though, those flies are no joke, I think I got about 7 in my eye.
