We stopped by this canyon as a last thing to do before dusk. It might be better in broad daylight but the benefit of the timing was that we were almost the only ones there (something that we noticed on other days too - turn up in the last two hours of daylight and all the tour buses have already... The view of the place is nice but I would not consider this a must see... it is not in the way and I don't think is worth the drive

One of the coolest places I've ever been. Be careful though, there isn't much between you and falling off a cliff.

If you're booking a tour, make sure in writing that this 'point of interest' is on the list of places you'll visit. Then, get to the gym and work the steps baby, 'cause you'll want to be reasonably fit to enjoy the lookout points with oxygen still reaching your extremities, because you'll just want the views to take your breath... It's a bit off the Ring Road, but it's definitely worth it. You can hike alongside the canyon, all the way up to the waterfall. When we were there, some guys were working on a construction project; it looked like they were building a platform that will extend out over the canyon up near the falls. Should be pretty cool,... Not far off the main road, is a small canyon with deep brown/black walls, river, and waterfall. A nice, short hike of 1/4 km takes you to 3 viewing points. Worth stopping be to see.

Fjadrargljufur Canyon is truly gorgeous... its water and uniquely shaped cliffs are serene and really is a beautiful sight to behold.

Such a magical place. It's like something off 'lord of the rings'. So beautiful and quiet. It does say that you need a 4x4 to access it but we had a tiny little car and had no problems.

This was by far one of the best moments on our trip. Little hike up hill in the winter with ice and old but worth it. The view is something out of story book. This is a must do/see while visiting this awesome country.

It was fairly easy to get to and was not crowded in the morning. We had some awesome views as the sun was coming up. There are walkways to explore.
