About
The tour includes 15 minutes of storytelling and an introduction to how the last leprechauns of Ireland became a protected species by the E.U..This is done in the story room across from the cavern at Shalom B.B.You may park there. This is followed by a visit below the ground where leprechauns and fairies converge in the morning as the sun rises. The visit is predominately indoors and definately great for a rainy day. It is not really suitable for children under 5 or who have not lost a tooth. If children are crying or disruptive, parents may be asked to leave with them till quiet, to allow other attendees to enjoy the whole experience. Adults should enjoy it at any age!

- Travel457046850413 contributionsGreat Fun Learning about and Experiencing Leprechauns in CarlingfordThis was an exceptional outing for our grandchildren aged 6 and 9. Kevin is a fine storyteller in the best Irish tradition, and his tales of the Little People entranced our kids. After hearing the story and going to the nearby cavern, the kids really felt like they were in the presence of leprechauns. Although there are usually more people for this program, Kevin graciously arranged to do a program for our group of four between Christmas and New Years when we were passing through the area. The village where this program is held is a lovely Irish seaside place that is worth a visit in its own right. The Leprechaun and Fairy Underground Cavern program is a fun and worthwhile activity, and you should do it if you have children from age 5 up if you have the chance.Sorry for taking so long to thank you for your great review I am delighted you enjoyed it so much. - Claire M3 contributionsAn Utterly Magical place/ExperienceOne rainy Sunday in March ‘24 our family of four set out in a Leprechaun hunt having travelled from Scotland for our leprechaun obsessed daughters birthday. This experience was absolutely magical and will be a core memory for our two children 7 and 9. Kevin, the leprechaun whisperer, was amazing with the children (and us big kids too). This is one of our most favourite family days out ever, and definitely worth the journey! If you are visiting Ireland, I couldn’t recommend more highly! We can’t wait to see the Carlichauns!! Thanks for such a wonderful experience.Apologies Claire for not writing sooner.Thank you for your great review. The whole tour was magical and there was great craic all round!! The Leprechauns that came home with us, will their own place in our respective homes. ! I would really recommend this tour, very good value for money too. it is suited for all age groups.our ages were 40-77 and each of us had the best time...we I'll definitely be back....... - Darren M2 contributionsA great day out for all the family.Had a great day out to meet Kevin at the Carlingford Leprechaun and Fairy Cavern. Kevin is a great character and a gentleman. It was great to learn about the folklore of leprechauns and the history associated with Carlingford. Kevin is a great storyteller and has a great set up with the underground cavern and the upstairs story telling room. Whether you're a skeptic or believer, it's a fun light-hearted activity and it's great to see an important part of Irish folklore and history being kept alive. There's also some great Leprechaun and Irish souvenirs that can be purchased at the shop which would be a great piece of Ireland for tourists to take home with them.Hi Darren Thank you for your kind review.. - Noodles_on_the_roadWest Ashling, United Kingdom16 contributionsA wonderful place where magic comes alive,We had a Daddy and Daughter day, and decided to go and see the famous McCoille (Kevin Woods) Irelands Last leprechaun whisperer. There are still 236 leprechauns living in the Cooley Mountains, McCoille managed to get the leprechauns protected species status within the EU. We heard many story’s from McCoille from when he first met a leprechaun to how he sees them every day and how he communicates with them, he also told us about the many tunnels that run from the mountains under his house and across to Northern Ireland. Absolutely absolutely brilliant storyteller really captured my five-year-old imagination. She now believes in leprechauns and fairies and wants to come back again soon , Such light hearted experience McCoille is as crazy as a box of frogs, but sometime we all need a bit of crazy. If you’re going to Carlingford u must make a stop here. The pictures do not do this place justice I have a little video I put together on my Instagram. He was glowing afterwards and didn't fight with his sister for a full 30 minutes of the drive home. Absolutely a must if you are travelling to carlingford, a hidden gem.
Kevin the leprechaun whisperer is a national treasure in my eyes. My 5 year old daughter was mesmerized by the experience. Kevin remembered all the participating childrens names. Even my 12 year old enjoyed it.
For €8 a child they each received a toy leprechaun. Great value and well worth a visit.
Just magical.

What a great little trip! We unfortunately read an outdated website and tried to get a 3pm tour which was not running, so make sure you check before travel. However there was a private tour running who allowed us to join so they saved the day! We were 3 adults, baby and a 4 year old and we all loved it! Brilliant fun and something we'll remember forever, thank you!
