Enjoy walking around this small town church! Good viewpoints from the top and interesting architecture. A must see in Amarante! We managed with a stroller but it is not particularly stroller/wheelchair accessible.

The outside is complicated in architectural parts, but it looks great. Inside is an ancient organ, a baroque alter, and memories of Saint Gonzalo. The cloister is modest , but very nice. There is a side room with great paintings and statues.

A must visit to this beautiful, peaceful, authentic and original place. Witness a wedding, everywhere was decorated with flowers and the smell was awesome, this absolutely add on to the experience.

Enjoyed this lovely cathedral and monastery just over the bridge in the charming town of Amarante. I was impressed by the most ornate pipe organ I have ever seen! Nice little town with charming shops and bakeries, all along the Tamega River.

We visited this church and monastery and we're glad we took the time. The church has a beautiful alter and cloister area. Well worth a brief visit. Admission is free as it should be for all places of worship.

This is a must visit monument if you do a stop over Amarante. São Gonçalo monestary is impossible to miss once it is located in the herat of the town. Don`t miss the amazing altar and the cloister! Worth seeing!
