The place were closed because maintenance works, but It should've been nice if they report that at their website.
However, there is a bus you can take in order to go up to O Sitio (it is about 10 min there)
Very inexpensive and fun way to explore the town on top of Nazare's cliff. Nice chapel at the top to explore and old church, lots of interesting stuff at the vendors along the plaza. You can also walk down to the lighthouse, just be aware...More

No free parking anywhere that we saw. We parked in our hotel parking lot and walked everywhere. You might find street parking either early or late in the day. The access to the funicular is located at the near the north end of the beach. Amazing views from the top! Although sights up there are limited, it is very pretty and worth your time.
