Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Plaza San Fernando (named after King Fernando lll of Castile) is located near the town museum and market area in the heart of the old town. It was early January when we visited and some of the festive decorations were still being removed. Restaurants and cafes are dotted all around and although the main plaza area could do with a facelift it’s still a nice spot to take a seat and watch the world go by.

Just an ordinary town centre plaza like many in Spain. Quiet in the afternoon with each of the restaurants with maybe one or two tables occupied, nothing special. But on Saturday night it seemed every family and group of teenagers was dressed up for a night socialising in the plaza. A lovely friendly busy place.

Spacious, leafy square with a few good restaurants and a column in the middle, which is named Pilar de la ALAMEDA DE ALFONSO XIII. When I tried to get some more info about this Alameda de Alfonso XIII., I didn't get too far. It isn't hard to guess that Alfonso XIII was probably a Spanish king, but Alameda wasn't that easy. Finally with a lot of Spanish articles I learned that it is a public garden, that sometimes deteriorated, sometimes was renewed. I have no idea about its current state, but there is that column, that commemorates it, even if it wouldn't exist anymore.

Lots of locals sit on the table in the square and so it is good for relaxing and people watching. Some good cafes round the edge.

Square where had a drink or a meal at some of the bars and watched the busy life within Carmona as there was a festival on
Square was clean, and activities around the outsides.

A lovely space, it has grand buildings all around. Has the distinction of being one of the premier Plazas in the city.

Some flora, ornate lamps and seating all add to the attraction.

Most of the restaurants in Carmona seem to be in this square, along with townspeople and a column in the centre mentioning Alfonso XIII. I don't recall hearing about Alfonso XIII anywhere else but you can assume he was King of either Castille or all of Spain at some point. The square is close to the city museum, the church of St. Mary and the convent so we found it to be a convenient lunch stop.

The Plaza San Fernando is quite ordinary in a charming setting. The bars, restaurants and shops around the plaza are nice and some are quite lively. The plaza itself is just a large concrete patio with a few benches. The addition of some trees, planters and perhaps a fountain would totally change the character of the Plaza. It's ok to park around the Plaza, but generally, the spaces are taken and we only got lucky once finding a space for the car. The street lamps are lovely.

This is a nice place to sit down and to have a drink on a terrace. It's right in the middle of Carmona.

Walking around this neighborhood was enjoyable for the Renaissance architectural characteristics of its houses and mansions. Carmona is known for its Roman and Muslim walls and palaces, but the Plaza San Fernando is equal to either era and deserves our appreciation, too. The Spanish elegance of the buildings and their landscaping of the 1600's stood out as I wandered around the area.
