This partly ruined castle is adjacent the Parador Hotel, an easy stroll! The entrance fee is very reasonable and there are discounts available for students. There is a short video explanation in Spanish. Also a guide gives a brief explanation and suggests the route to see the various parts of the castle. There are signs and explanations in Spanish and... We spent 2 hours. Lots of history, explanations in English . Easy to follow directions, great views. Taxi ride from town is expensive,10 euros each way. Would be very difficult to walk up. Entrance fee only 3.50 euros

This is well worth a visit and good value for money. We were greeted by a guide who spoke English. She explained the best route around the castle where the best views were and a bit of history. Approximately 2 hours including walk to the cross on the hill.

We only visited the outside but it's very impressive and well preserved. The view from the too of the mountain is beautiful. It's quite far from the centre and better to reach by car.

This castillo can be seen as you approach Jaen and is a most impressive site. It is located next to the Parador de Jaen, which I highly recommend. I can't remember the exact cost of admission, but it is rather nominal. The curator gave us the basic overlay, even with our limited spanish. The views of the countryside and city... More

This castle is in incredible condition given its very turbulent history. I walked from the centre of jaen rather than getting the standard taxi up there, and it was well worth the hike. Great history and spectacular views..highly recommend a visit

A musts see in Jaen even when little time. Situated on top of the mountain you will have spectacular views over the city and olive trees to the horizon. Huge walls and also good explanation signs for the history in english.

You'll need to take a taxi from the centre of town aprox 7 euros.. its about 6km ... we thought we'd walk but advised not to due to the steepness and the fact there is no pavement... good advice taken! The castle sits high on a hillside overlooking Jaen, entrance fee bout 3euros each... its worth the journey for the... More

This castle has been rebuilt so many times I dont think there is an orginal brick in it. Having said that, its well explained, and the views are great. As is usually the case in Spain you can get up to the top of the towers, walk along the battlements and go into the dungeons. Get a taxi up from... More

We were staying at the Parador de Jaen and as the Castillo entrance is about 300 yards from the Parador we decided to visit it. The Castillo is on the top of a mountain and dominates the surrounding area. There is a small entrance fee and you are given a leaflet about the Castillo which is available in a number... More
