Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fare beach, can be reached on foot. The beach is large, has showers on some stretches and has a couple of Beach Clubs to drink/eat. One of them the Spa that is so fashionable. When we went we had a lot of seaweed almost all over the beach and you couldn't swim without getting dirty.

Closest beach to the city of Tarifa. It expands but almost always at the mercy of the winds. If it is a day without much air, you can enjoy clear water and fine sand and if you like sailing sports (surfing, kite, etc...) then it is a perfect place to start. Urban and with all services.

They have a place to rent surf boards and wetsuits. The beach is clean and has nice waves to surf -even though Tarifa is known for its kite and windsurf. It was really fun.

When you'll get there, you will be speechless.
And your heart'll begin to pulse. For the first time in your whole life.
To me, it has been love at first sight.
I soon fell in love with Tarifa and its Playa de Los Lances.
Here, you can swim, bathe (water is warmer than in the nearest Playa Chica in the Mediterranean sea!). You can stay half a day staring at the people doing kite-surf. You can run for 7 kilometres to reach the next beach of Valdevaqueros.
The only thing to do is to check the wheather forecasts before the departure (calling for info the Tourist Office in Tarifa), in order to not get there in a week when the wind of LEVANTE is blowing, because in that case, it's impossibile to stay on the beach, because of the wind storms.

This beach is fnatastic for kitesurfing, but also for a day relaxing on the beach. Tarifa is a fnatastic old town with a great atmosphere.

We visited Los Lances beach once again, and it’s always a pleasant beach to be at. The beach is so long and wide that even though there are many people it still looks kind of empty. It is great and there’s always space where to settle.
Water is crystal clear, literally. It can be quite cold, around 20C, but hey it’s the Atlantic right? There are facilities around, showers, restaurants and pasarelas that lead you right into the sand.
Parking wise it can take some time to find a spot, specially if you get there between 12 a 16, the busy time. I suggest to try luck to the right of the futbol pitch, there is a big not paved area where you can find some spaces.
People talk a lot about the strong wind in the area. It’s called Levante. It can be annoying if it’s strong. Check the weather forecast before travelling and you’ll be ok.
In los Lances you can practice water sports too. Kite surf, wind surf and surfing are quite popular and heavily practiced in the area. But that you probably already know.

We stayed at THe Lances hotel which is at the very beginning of the beach so we took a stroll from there all the way to the end and back.
There is a walkway that takes you all along the beach. You will see all sorts of walls of life coming to and from; the local oldies, the younger skateboarders or even the families strolling with their kids.
A few restaurants/ lounges are situated along the walk too, we stopped at Cafe Del Mar but there is lots more to choose from.
Was a bit windy for us to stay at the beach but we really enjoyed the views walking alongside it up until we got to Las Palomas island.

This is another amazing beach in Tarifa. It stretches for miles and miles.
It’s great for sunbathing or having a walk down. It seems to be never ending but it’s really worth exploring if you’re in town.
This beach is very popular with windsurfers so it’s great to sit back and watch them all at it.
There are a couple of nice beach bars along the beach.

.
If you are used to the so-called "sand" of the Costa del Sol, you will relish the pale golden powder they have on this long beach to the west of Tarifa. Mile after mile of sparkling sand, fine and pale. Beautiful! It trickles through your toes giving a lovely feeling. And as it is so pale, it doesn't burn your feet.
:-)
However, the Town Council doesn't send in tractors to clean the beach, so there is seaweed and flotsam and jetsam deposited by the high tide, and cigarette butts and drink cans deposited by the beach users.
:-(
The water temperature will vary a little, depending on the prevailing winds, but you don't usually get here the icy chilly water that can roll up from the depths of the Atlantic and get pushed further East along the coast, all the way round to Marbella.
The sea here is fairly shallow at high tide, so seems safe for children, but take care! The waves come rolling in and can knock over even a granny; do not let the children out of your sight, keep close by them at all times. If they lose their footing they can be dragged out by the undertow.
Similarly beware of the kite-surfers - many of them cannot control their "vehicles" very well, and you are expected to get out of their way rather than the other way round.
But if you are a kite-surfer, or a wind-surfer, you will have the time of your life here - the Wind Capital of Europe!
