From Asia, Europe and beyond the puppets are interesting. We missed the English translations! Worth a visit if with kids or if interested in this aspect of theatre.

Fribourg Museum of Marionette is small and can be "covered" in less than an hour but it's well worth a visit. The puppets are unusual and some are even quite creepy. I think there aren't too many places where you could find such a unique collection.

This small but well-kept museum can easily be overlooked because it's not on the main tourist route. However, it's a hidden delight and shouldn't be missed. The museum is small but well-kept with a lot of different puppets from all over the world. You are given a short tour and explanation and then left to explore on your own so you can take as long as you like. Small museums like this need all the support they can get, and this one is well-deserving. Afterwards you can enjoy a cup of good coffee or a beer.

Visited almost by accident on a freezing February day. A friendly and warm welcome from the curator. He gave us a mini guided tour in almost faultless English and then left us to explore. It's is not very big and is crammed full of marionettes of all sizes and ages from many parts of the world. There is a little theatre where younger children can act out their own plays. This emphasises the real problem of this museum - marionettes need to be brought to life by someone and whilst many of the exhibits are very beautiful, it's all rather lifeless.
