Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The whole experience was great from first enquirey with C2C Packhorse and throughout the entire 14-day walk. Dealing with Packhorse before the trip was easy and staff even phoned me in Canada a couple of times just to give me extra information to make getting there easy. Staff were friendly and always helpful. Most of the accommodation during the 14 nights was good, with only a couple of exceptions. The best was the guide Mark Reid who is an experienced leader. There was never a dull moment with Mark's sense of humor and vast knowledge of social & geological & nature history, and his interest in more topical world issues such as ecology, equity or whatever. As well Mark checked in with each of us every day to ensure we were all feeling mentally and physically fit. I rate C2C Packhorse highly, I rate Mark Reid an exceptional guide, and I rate the Wainwright (almost national) trail excellent and well worth walking along.

We walked the full 192 mile Coast to Coast trail over 14 days using Packhorse to coordinate our accommodation bookings, transport our luggage each day, and transfer us to and from the start/end points. We were blown away with the service we received, right from our initial enquiry (patient answering of all our daft questions!) through to the final transfer and drop off back at Kirkby Stephen on our last day. The accommodation they organised was way above what I was expecting (with some of the best food we've eaten in a long time) and absolutely perfect for us. Our luggage was carefully handled and arrived promptly each day. We had an urgent query over one of the weekends so had to use the out of hours number and that was all managed promptly and perfectly. The information we received beforehand and links to the GPS maps were brilliant. Special thanks to Hayley for checking on accommodation cancellations as we got near our starting day, which ensured all our stays were on route and no taxi transfers needed, and also for coming to see us in Kirkby Stephen with her recommendations of which path to take over Nine Standards Rigg. If you're debating whether to go with this option or self-organise I would say don't think twice about it, let Packhorse take all the coordination stress off you so you can just concentrate on enjoying the beautiful walk.

I finally completed C2C in June after planning it in 2019 (postponed twice because of Covid) The whole Packhorse package was excellent, Mark and his team offer fantastic support and knowledge. Everything was executed to a high standard, certainly took away any stress as we had nothing to think about and could concentrate on the walking and enjoying it. A truly memorable experience with breathtaking views would highly recommend. A majority of the accommodation was of high standard with a couple of exceptional ones thrown in. Our luggage was always waiting for us on arrival. Packhorse offer a first class service and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

C2C cycle ride. A must for any keen cyclist. We had such a great time even though we were unlucky with the weather day one. The organisation by Packhorse was fab and their ability to book nice B&B's unquestionable. I had quite low expectations of this type of organised holiday only becasue I am a walker and have stayed in some pretty poor places in my time. But to be honest it was far in excess of anything I expected. One of the most rewarding holidays I have had and would definitely do more in the future. Got home immediately after and started to plan the next. Thanks Packhorse.

Fantastic walk over mixed terrain with sweeping views. Trip of a lifetime. Hayley from Packhorse took care of our accommodation bookings which were all lovely with very welcoming hosts. Baggage transfer was also excellent . We cannot fault the high quality service they provided. Highly recommend both Packhorse and getting out on this trail - we loved every minute .

We booked our Coast to Coast walk with C2C Packhorse and everything we encountered from the walk itself to our accommodations were excellent. Unfortunately, we were not able to complete the walk due to a health issue that arose and the support we received from C2C Packhorse was very very good as they helped us change our schedule, sorted out our lodging requirements and got us to the town of Richmond. A special mention to Hayley Bowman for all of her help and running around to make sure we were well looked after.
We would not hesitate to recommend C2C Packhorse as the company to use for the Coast to Coast walk!

I understand things are more difficult in the time of COVID 19, as bags need to be sanitized at pick-up. That said, the number of walkers is much less than pre-covid times. The service was in general good, but twice out of 12 days, delivery was past the latest 16.30 time (admittedly not guaranteed), and on one of these by well over an hour. What is also a little peeving is that (a) when they were late, an estimate was given on both occasions that was very optimistic, and (b) when one called twice, different people gave different excuses for the delay.
So, not terrible, but not as good as I'd hoped - in 2017, I used baggage transfer companies for about 60 days of 90 when I hiked Lan's End to John o'Groats, and never received my baggage later than 3 pm...

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry on those two occasions factors outside our control caused those unfortunate delays. (you touched on the implications on Covid precautions and those days with the unfortunate perfect storm of other issues along the route delaying the driver). We subsequently adjusted aspects of the operational schedule and routing (eg avoiding the staycation parking obstructions) to ensure normal delivery times were maintained.

The C2C has been on our bucket list for a while and with everything else cancelled this year, we contacted Packhorse to see if they could arrange everything for us. I honestly can’t fault them, brilliant set up, very knowledgable and the gpx files they sent were a Godsend from start to finish especially walking to Grasmere in Storm Francis. If you’re thinking about it, just get it booked and use Packhorse. They’ve been doing it for years and know their stuff. We loved every minute, it’s easily the best holiday we’ve ever had and we’d do it again in a heartbeat.

In August of 2012, I invited 12 fellow members of our Sun City Anthem Hiking Club in Henderson, Nevada to join my wife and I on a 21 day walk across England. All our lodging, luggage transfer and route information guides were provided by C2C packhorse. The communications and logistics included three rest days for visits in The Lakes, The Dells and The Moors; park areas of northern England. For All but 8 or our 20 nights, we were all lodged in the same pubs, hotels, or hostels. The services of the luggage transfer were always punctual, and in addition for myself and at least two other individuals the inability to walk on some of the days was overcome by transfer with the luggage.
This nearly 200 mile walk is somewhat challenging even for folks who are use to hiking 20 to 30 miles a week especially in the rain. But the beauty and accomplishment far exceed any of the many long distance walks my wife and I have completed.
This was a memorable experience for everyone and all because of the superb services of C2C Packhorse and Simon Jones.

We first began arranging our trip in 2019, it was postponed last year and we’ve just completed. The Packhorse team have provided first class support throughout; from setting the itinerary, to agreeing the accommodation and rearranging everything when we had to postpone. All the accommodation was good and no problems with the baggage transfers. You even get a commemorative T-shirt.
