About
a unique watering hole encapsulating the mining and industrial history of Seaham. We pay homage to those who built this town. Come down and have a drink with Jackie the miner and experience what it was like to work at "the coalface".

Seaham's hidden gem. Such a lovely, cozy, welcoming pub! The staff..... which I believe are Joe and Joanne are a credit to themselves. Great staff, great drinks, great atmosphere. GREAT PUB

What a fantastic little bar this is. We were made to feel very welcome my the hosts J&J and my hubby loved the Czech beer and the mining memorabilia. We loved it that much if we hadn’t of had plans we would have stayed all day. We did return in the evening for a night cap and the owner kindly gave us a lift back to our hotel as we could not get a taxi. We have already recommended this place to
Friends and family and will definitely return. Good luck guys and thank you ❤️

Great atmospheric pub. Real cosy crackling fire. Good beer. Cocktails if you want! Came back several nights when we visited Seaham as so good.

We’d seen how bad the bar next door looked and had avoided the bottom end of Church Street. However, we decided to call into The Coalface when we had a lad’s night out. There’s a couple of known branded beers on tap and some not so. I’d asked the extremely friendly barman (beard and nice smile!!) what the Pardal? Beer was like. I was given a small taste and duly ordered 5 pints of it for us. The bar has a log burner which is great in the winter. We turned up a couple of weeks later and joined the quiz. It was hilarious!! They also show live sports on TV. It isn’t the biggest bar in Seaham, but it is certainly one of the friendliest and one which I will be frequenting on a regular basis.

Been here many a time and always get a great welcome, tasty pint and awesome time. Mark, Andy and Luke know how to run a boozer. From busker night to a crazy quiz (especially when Andy does it lol). Get involved people. Proper pub with proper clientele. Always dog friendly too. Top Notch

I have been to The Coalface a couple times now and love it more with every visit. They offer a great selection of drinks. Extra friendly bar staff. And there is always fun to be had at the quiz on a Thursday night. It has a commemorative plaque wall to show local miners who have served in the area! A heart warming touch and a must visit location if you are ever in Seaham. They have a real log fire too!

What a great change from the normal small pubs, some great beers unlike some of the non natural brands of beer in most pub outlets, positioned in a good place to wait while the wife goes shopping
