Overview
More
The Coastal Communities Museum opened in 2013. Each year the museum features a new exhibition, which generally starts-off at Easter and runs throughout the calendar year until the end of November, although check out the opening days as this varies according to the month. The museum has much to offer both adults and children. Mums and dads may be interested in some local history or gaining knowledge, while kids maybe looking forward to a fun visit, with things to do. The museum is managed and run by a team of volunteers, who rely on donations from the visiting public along with other grants to help sustain its development. Once your tour of the exhibition is complete why not purchase a Trail Leaflet and see where it takes you!

Good to see this investment in such great facilities. It is above the library and has a wide range of exhibits without that all too prevalent emphasis on interactive displays that either crash or get taken over by enthusiasts. A small shop allows for inexpensive...More

So surprised to find such a small free museum filled with interesting objects with much of it geared to children. They have the most fascinating optical illusion a small silver ball which appears to sit in top of a stand but it's all an illusion....More

Pleased you found the museum child friendly and enjoyed trying to find the 'magic' silver ball. The museum alters to winter opening shortly, which will mean we are closed during the week, but open every weekend - so if you are planning a return visit...More

We spent several hours at this fascinating exhibit includes objects with a link to the area and fascinating information. We particularly enjoyed talking to the knowledgeable volunteer staff about the museum. The cafe offers good soups and cakes.
