Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent, informative little place. My four-year-old enjoyed it and had lots of questions. The staff were very friendly and willing to speak about the different displays. Lots and lots of information; if you're able to walk around and read everything, you could easily spend an hour in here.

For such a small space this collection of local artefacts is quite outstanding, covering topics ranging from the early lifeboats, local industries such as shipbuilding, which diminished with the trend towards steel ships, to domestic cooking.
Information covering each topic is well laid out, easy to read and very informative.
The collection of old tools is especially interesting. Look out for the chain which had been carved out of a single piece of wood by a local craftsman.
Entrance is free, but donations are welcomed and deserved.

Hi 2mercury Wow thank you for your splendid review. The chain you mentioned was actually carved by Bill Lindsey a local boat builder who also happen to start our Museum with all his boat building tools. The chain was made out of mahogany, 2inch x 2inch and some 26 feet long, he made the wooden chain all by hand, and when finished it had grown two feet in length. Thank you again for your review and hope you call in again when your back in Padstow.

Lovely little museum however I was disappointed in the way in which the lady spoke to my young daughter in a confrontational and inappropriate manner. I would suggest that if items in the museum cannot be touched then appropriate signage should be displayed. Apparently, as advised by the lady this is an unwritten rule at all museums, although the many museums we have visited artefacts can be touched. The gentleman was extremely knowledgable and did not appear concerned when I handled the items on display so slightly contradictory or perhaps a dislike towards children.

Hello Laner1979 I can only apologize for the unfortunate occurrence. which you and your daughter experienced, people can sometimes be abrupt without thinking, or it is their manner. But good can come out of bad, as we are looking into ways for the children to be able to handle items associated to our displays, they must be unbreakable of course, as we don't want the children to injure themselves. my apologies yet again and thank you for informing us.

We visited the museum with our 2 children aged 9 and 8. We were welcomed by Linda and Phil, who were clearly very knowledgable and made the visit very interesting for the children (and adults). The exhibits were well displayed and interesting and greatly enhanced by Linda and Phil.

Lots to see in this small museum giving a potted history of this town. Best to get talking to the volunteers who bring the history to life. A good way to spend an hour. Free to get in, but donations are much appreciated.

This might not be the biggest museum you'll ever visit, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a museum that embodies the local area so well. Lots of local interest and staffed by extremely interesting locals who have clearly put their heart and souls into the endeavor. The short audio clips recounting ship wreck stories were a highlight for me. Go and visit the museum, and take a moment to chat with the volunteers - you won't regret it.

The one negative review was about the old premises. The museum has now moved to the old station house in the main car park and is superb. Free entry and full of interesting artefacts. When we visited the volunteers on duty were knowledgable and friendly. Well worth a look.

No fee to enter this volunteer staffed museum on the railway car park.

Displays are very good and offer an insight into the history of Padstow.

This is small with limited space- and unfortunately it only takes someone to unthinkingly monopolise one particular display - to the detriment of others.

Well worth a visit.

Hi 1949etwall Thank you for taking time to review Padstow Museum. Its good to get everyone's feedback. We are in the process of another interactive screen being installed, but they do take a little more time to load up. We hope to see you again when you next visit Padstow, then you can see the new interactive in place. Thank you
