About
The South Devon Chilli Farm is set in the wonderful South Hams district of South Devon with stunning countryside views. We grow over 100 types of chilli and there is a free-to-visit display from late-May to late-Nov. We have a farm shop open Monday to Friday, all year round. The shop sells the sauces, preserves and chocolates that we produce from the chillies we grow on the farm; all are available for sampling and make great gifts. During the Spring and Summer, we sell a wide range of chilli plants and fresh chillies. Year-round we also sell seeds and chilli-growing equipment. Just 5 miles South of the A38.

    Stunning
The whole experience was wonderful! The show poly tunnel was well thought out and the plants were stunning. The planting around the farm was beautiful and attracted a lot of bees. The orchard trees were full of apples. The hot chocolate was delicious but no homemade cakes.

    Lovely place to visit
1st visit to the chilli farm and thoroughly enjoyed it. My boyfriend is the chilli expert and he loved trying the chilli and the chocolate. The show tunnel was laid out from chilli's with no heat to the hotest chilli which was off the scale. The staff were very helpful with advice. Also dog friendly which is a bonus. Would definitely go again.

    First class workshop.
What a lovely morning we spent at our chilli workshop. Phil was first class, knowledgeable, patient, fun and generous. Lizzie also shared hints and tips for our chilli growing journey. I would recommend this workshop 100%….we came away with problems solved, smiling and arms filled with plants. Awesome x

    Chilli growing workshop
I did a chilli growing workshop. What a great morning, 9:30 till about 11:50. This included a tour of the whole place. Phil was very friendly and knowledgeable, very informal and professional. I learnt what I've been doing wrong which is a big positive. Some practical work during the workshop and came away with a bunch of seedlings. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning and I highly recommend it.

One of my favourite food stops is no more . Popped over as I was pleased to hear the Chilli Farm had finally fully opened again since COVID . Was looking forward to their fantastic chilli, great cakes and good coffee/chilli hot chocolates . When I entered, no food counter, the staff have been replaced by a hot drinks machine and the cakes bought in , wrapped in cardboard and plastic . Sadly no food . We basically had a drink and went .

Called in here recently, apparently its only just reopened to visitors so my timing was good. After tasting came away with some great chilli jelly, sauces and chocolate. Others may be interested in buying plants or seeds which are also available. Really nice location, great atmosphere and very enthusiastic helpful staff.

Visited the farm for a workshop on 8/4. Had a tour of the poly tunnels with commentary about every aspect of chilli growing by a very knowledgeable guy. Then potted up some of my own chillies and was provided with various other plants all the while being kept well informed. After a lovely cup of tea and beautiful cake pottered around the shop. What a lovely couple of hours. Even my 3 year old niece enjoyed planting some chillis.

A fan of this little cafe, they do amazing chilli mochas. Went recently for a bite to eat, was told by the lovely lady that the kitchen was slightly overwhelmed, could we just wait while she checked what food they were doing? Overheard the incredibly snippy and aggressive woman in the kitchen telling this lovely lady off, berating her to have the audacity to mention they might be doing food!

Just tell them to wait! us and the whole cafe heard her cry. We did wait, while the nice waiting staff tiptoed around this screeching harpy, we waited and waited, the waitresses clearly too terrified to approach the ogre in the kitchen. In the end ordered our drinks, after about 20 minutes of waiting, and went outside. Shame, have enjoyed this place in the past, but won't be going back. Can I just enquire of whoever might have been running the kitchen that day, if you can't face the thought of serving food perhaps a job in a cafe is not for you. Just a thought...

A good alternative to the usual Garden Centre mass offering. It's only a short distance from Ivybridge by car. We had a couple of cream teas as our visit was after 3pm and cooked meals were no longer on offer. Two good quality scones, excellent jam & proper clotted cream with enough to go around. We had the Hibiscus tea which has a very subtle flavour (a la Earl Grey but no where near as perfumed!). Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend and will go back.
