About
The Old Prison, formerly a House of Correction, is a fascinating 18th Century Grade II* listed building in the Cotswold market town of Northleach. Today it serves as a popular and rather unique Kitchen & Café serving artisan coffees, brunch classics, homemade cakes, lunchtime specials and afternoon teas, all made with locally sourced ingredients. Complementary access is available to the original Prison Cells and Court Room and the fully enclosed garden with outdoor seating houses the Lloyd-Baker wagon collection. The centre is also home to the Cotswolds National Landscape offices and the Cotswolds Radio station.

A great place to stop for lunch
Sep 2021 • Friends
A lovely place for lunch and a visit to the old prison cells and court room. The food was tasty and the service friendly. Plenty of parking and a nice grassy area with lots of tables to sit outside should you choose to. We will definitely revisit

Nice place to eat and take a break

Stopped for lunch, had a good light meal. Good friendly service, clean and bright dining area interesting to see the original cells and courtroom and rural farming equipment display around the outside courtyard.

A few kinks in my visit but lovely venue & food.
Sep 2021 • Friends
Lovely grass open area with plenty of tables & an interesting menu. Unfortunately they must have either been having a bad day or had new staff as I didn’t get the item I ordered & someone on the next table was forgotten. Having said that the staff were very apologetic & took some money of the bill.

No service walked out
Sep 2021 • Couples
Arrived for lunch after visiting last year and was lovely. The lovely young girl seated us and told us someone would come take our order. After 15 mins my husband started trying to get the male waiters attention and he looked directly at him and proceeded to take an order from the people who had just arrived , after us. We walked out and no one noticed..!!!!!! Which says it all.

Dissatisfied
Jul 2021 • Couples
This used to be an excellent cafe. Not sure if it's now under new management, but, the service and food has certainly gone downhill. In fact some of the staff are positively rude.

Best avoided
Aug 2021
Full English breakfast a rip off. £11.50 for small breakfast. Sausage was some sort of burger - yuk. Horrendously over priced. Bacon bap served in nasty cheap white bread roll.

Staff friendly but seemed expert at avoiding noticing customers.

Very disappointed.

AVOID.

Delicious Coffee

Delicious coffee ☕️ A friend and I popped in for a coffee whilst passing the cafe. We also took a stroll around the grounds and to explore the history of the prison.
Stunning venue.

Awful food - and ludicrously overpriced
Aug 2021
Awful. We stopped here only because we couldnt park in Stow and were ravenously hungry. We were ignored by bored staff, the food was overpriced and frankly, awful. £14 for 12 wet soggy chips and three pieces of dried-up monkfish. Never, ever again.
