    Lovely museum ❤️
It might be the smallest museum in Northumberland but it’s quant, and local history is so interesting. We haven’t been since covid as I was shielding but came back today and so glad it’s still here. If you love history like we do then you will find this so interesting and don’t forget to sign the 📕 book.❤️

    Tiny museum in beautiful location
old ferryman’s hut in shores of river Coquet with fascinating collection of photos and information . Lovingly maintained by local volunteers . Ok, it’s not a “museum” in the normal sense (it is small!) but it’s well worth a visit . And a lovely spot to sit inside or outside.

    Local History
The ferryman’s hut is an interesting piece of local history, situated on the bank overlooking the estuary at Alnmouth. It has some really interesting photographs displayed inside. If you are passing, it is well taking 10 minutes to look inside.

A tiny shed with some interesting bits of information about the area and the Ferry Man who used to be there.
Worth a visit if you are nearby.

We often drop in to the Ferryman's Hut when we are walking around Alnmouth. It's lovely to just sit for a while, watching the water and the activity around. It was really windy today, so it was really pleasant to be inside with a sandwich and a flask of coffee, having a bit more of a read about the history of the area!

Literally just a hut, a maximum of two people can be in the hut at the same time.

It's free to enter (donations welcome), and with the photos and stories on the wall, it's a trip down memory lane.

It's always a delight to discover by accident a place about which one previously knew nothing! This was one of those happy occurrences! This tiny hut looks so "right" within the landscape which would be so much poorer for its absence. Inside is a bench seat and lots of framed photographs of the old rowing boat ferries across the River Aln and of old Alnmouth. Do visit and sign the visitors' book. Thank you to where-ever keeps this going! By the way, lots of free parking by the roadside a few feet away.

This could be even more special if it was updated. It's a really clever idea; I would happily pay into a donation/honesty box if more interesting information, photographs, artefacts were included e.g. postcards.
