Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice walk aroung the hill but to be honest you can't see much of the horse because of the angle, the best place we found was near the car park when we sat on a bench to have a brew and biscuits.

Difficult to see this horse from any angle. A short walk to be on top of it but no good for photos. Photos displayed are the best I could get.

This is a nice walk, be ready for a bit of wind. The White Horse is pretty visible, you'd have to be in the air to see it clearly but there's lots of glimpses possible while walking the hills. Information signs are there for Uffington and Dragon Hill as well.

It is quite a climb from the NT car park to the top of White Horse Hill but it is worth it for the views of the surrounding countryside. The best views of the horse are on your way up or from the road below. Even further up is Uffingham Castle which is an Iron Age hill fort, it is enormous! It must have been very formidable back in the day! Both are well worth stopping to view if you are in the area.

Threee words. Fun with family and friends. The stones of the white horse are making a lovely mark and as a eight year old it was a great experience.
If you have teenagers or kids over the age of four White Horse Hill is a great way to get your family out and about.
Food: White horse is fantastic to eat at. It has a little space kids can play on. Such Asa a swing seat and two tree stumps.
So up you get go to White Horse Hill and enjoy the fresh air.

We live 45mins drive away but occasionally make the trip to the white horse and weyland smithy. Useful national trust car park, often with ice cream van. Clearly signposted walks of various lengths around the landscape. On windy days it is very blowy on the top! Recommend visit in good weather if possible.

The usual pay and display but no visitor centre or toilets here. Information boards direct you to the White Horse, Dragon Hill and Uffington Castle, all of which are a must see if you are serious about history or love a good walk through chalk meadows with skylarks larking, butterflies, Burnet Moths, Chequered Skippers and loads of orchids. The horse seems to have been orientated for the Gods to see but you get the jist and views from the Dragon Mound are the best. Uffington Castle is impressive with its huge central area and its earth bunds and ditches. You can do a circular walk of them all. Do visit the Dragon Hill with it's dragon's blood and get a small bit of chalk to write a friendly message on the tarmac of the quiet steep road - it will wash or wear off quickly.

I really enjoyed the walk around and the information available. Interesting that you can't see it from close up, only from a distance on the roads. Most of the photos are taken from the air. Amazing to think how they made it all those years ago.

The white chalk horse is fascinating in its way. It is ancient, 3000 years old, and one wonders why it was made. Getting to it involves driving some windy narrow roads. Once there, it’s a nice walk on a nice day, but probably the only way to get a really good view of it is to fly over it.

Basically there's a hill to walk around and look at. You can use it as a starting point for various long walks in the area, covering a lot of archaeological sites. The car park might have an ice cream van in it.
The X47 claims to run on Saturdays from Wantage.

I was there 45 years ago, not as young as I was then. I did not see the horse, even though we climbed to the top of the hill. I would like to find out where the spot is from the road where the horse is visible. I will be there in August. Thank you.

I have always wanted to see the Uffington horse. We are staying in Salisbury & have a spare day in early Sept, but do not have our own transport. Any ideas how we could reach Uffington & see this horse using public transport or is there a day tour which includes it. Also after reading the above reports, is there a spot that you can see the whole horse on the hillside, maybe from further away?
