There are many joys to experience of the drive up from Gairloch to Ullapool and one of them is Gruinard Bay which can be enjoyed from the road but is most definitely worth stopping at. The golden sandy beaches are magnificent in all weathers but...More

We visited this beach today on the hottest June day in Scotland for 20 years and it was stunning. It is on the NC500 and a stop here is definitely recommended. The tide was out so the expanse of golden sand was beautiful. I walked...More

The drive from Gairloch to Ullapool passes this really interesting area. Each corner on the road has another viewpoint that offers a photo opportunity. A must do in this area.

The view of this beach as you approach on the road is absolutely stunning, There is parking but access is difficult if you are not steady on your feet as the stairs are closed. If you do make it you will be delighted by a...More

Good spot by the bay, basic good clean utilities. A choice of evening walks along beach or past the grave yard and along the cliffs.

We found Gruinard Bay by chance on a drive through the Highlands. What a find it was. We spotted it from a hill and had to go for a closer look. There is a small car park area across the road from the beach. A...More

Stayed at the Gruinard bay caravan park, the location is excellent as the bay is beautiful, watching all the wildlife as the sun went down. The park its self is a little rustic shall we say, not particularly dog friendly.
