I took an excellent half-day tour with Karl. He is very knowledgeable about the area, and we visited several beautiful spots. I am an experienced photographer, but I still learned a great deal from Karl (and got some gorgeous shots). For a photographer of any level, it's a great way to explore the beauty of Glencoe (and Glen Etive).

Had a 1to1 for half a day with Dave (cubby) cuthbertson a Scottish climbing legend and all round great guy cracking photographer also, the rain didn't stop us as Dave set us up in glencoe beneath a big fishing umbrella, I am fairly competent photographer but felt I needed a bit of a refresher and Dave certainly helped me with that and told me some great climbing stories along the way, all in all a good informative afternoon.

I have been photographing for 15 years now. I took the service of Karl Griffin who came highly recommended by trip advisor and Oh Boy! was I glad!!
One-2-One for 4 Days with Karl Griffin that were my best in Glencoe.
He knows all the good locations and you don't waste time. He is passionate and a good teacher. He teaches you by examples. I showed him the photo I had just taken and he will tell me whats wrong or how to take a better one. Then I would take another and be amazed.
He will quickly find what you are not doing right and tell you how to do it. Worth the money! He is slightly expensive but worth every penny!
I spent 4 full days with him. He used to pick me up from Clachaig Inn at 5:45 am and we used to chase the light. This is something I learnt from him - You need to Chase the light and not the location. And another, how to take good photographs in ANY light. Classic, I must say!
I took a wonderful photo of the sunrise at Black Mountains on my last day with him. Attached. Karl, Thank you,
I thoroughly enjoyed the time with him and the learnings.
Recommend for all levels of photographers.

My friend and I unfortunately only had one full day in the Glencoe area, but spending it with Karl of Glencoe Photography was, for us, the best way to experience as much of the surrounding Highlands as possible. He picked us up on time at the Isles of Glencoe Hotel in Ballachulish, and we were soon in the Glencoe valley, hills all around us. Spending the day with a stranger can sometimes be agonizing, but Karl's friendly demeanor and sense of humor put us at ease.
It rained (lightly and heavily) much of the day, and though it affected visibility to some degree, it made for some beautiful, atmospheric photos. I told Karl that I tend to use auto-focus and am more interested in photo composition, and he said he would (and did) give me tips about composition, as well as help me get more out of my Canon SX720HS. With rain there was water to be photographed, and during the course of the day we stopped at about a half dozen spots, including waterfalls, lakes, and streams. My non-photographer friend waited patiently in the vehicle as Karl and I hiked to each spot (I'm so glad I'd brought waterproof pants and jacket), set up the tripod, attached my camera, framed a shot, adjusted the camera settings, pulled out a filter he had to enhance the photo, wiped off the rain off the lens, set the timer, reviewed the picture, repeat, all the while wrestling an umbrella in the wind and rain. A lot more effort than I typically put into taking a photo, but it was an adventure and the results were great, capturing the smooth blur of rushing water.
The day was broken up with a stop for a delicious and hearty lunch at the Clachaig Inn, and ended at the Ballachulish Visitor Centre, where you can see and purchase some of Karl's beautiful photos.
Many thanks to Karl for an excellent photo safari in a wonderful part of the world!

After reviewing the photos taken while on our 1 to 2 tuition with Karl last week, I can say they are STUNNING!
I had put off improving my extremely limited photography skills despite plans to visit bonnie Scotland. My husband bought me a fairly decent Nikon dslr for the trip, and using the green auto mode, I was lucky enough to capture some pretty good shots. But the point and shoot method was not fulfilling my creative side so when we returned to Scotland with no more knowledge of photography than the previous trip, I refused the status quo and sought the help of a professional. Given the raw beauty of Glencoe, it was a no brainer to book a private session with Glencoe Photography. Karl met us at our hotel, accessed my skill level and was mindful to teach me everything from the beginning without technical overload. He was personable and easy to work with. We went on a few locations throughout the glen for hands-on training. And despite my limited skill set, Karl encouraged me to take more than a greeting card photo, but instead to create a piece of art. And I have to say, I am very impressed with the photos he helped me capture and excited to develop a new talent. I highly recommend Glencoe Photography for a thoroughly enjoyable experience, good instruction and a real confidence boost!

My friend and I spent a full day with Karl. We’re both fairly experienced photographers but Karl helped us capture better images with his extensive knowledge of what works best at the sites he took us to. And the locations he took us to were epic shots that we couldn’t had gotten to ourselves in 1 day. Karl is a real pro and a pleasant guy to spend a day with. Highly recommended!

We booked this photo experience as an extended half-day adventure for the entire family. Dave took us to some of the most beautiful parts of Glencoe and while he provided expert tuition for my landscape photography, the rest of the family was off exploring the trails and gorgeous waterfalls. Dave is very good at tailoring the experience to your individual needs, picking up how much you already know and then taking you to the next level. He brought along filters that fit my camera to show me different effects and also made some great equipment suggestions in the end. All in all a perfect experience! Highly recommended!

My wife organised a days tuition for my birthday with Glencoe photography. I went last Monday with Dave for the full days tuition. I had an excellent time and Dave was a superb teacher/guide. Learnt a lot from him about getting the best landscape shot and how to set up to get it. The locations he took us had some stunning scenery. An extremely friendly man who has lived a very interesting life as a mountaineer and photographer who I enjoyed hearing his stories and experiences.
Excellent day out and would thoroughly recommend whether totally new to photography or an experienced photographer.

We went out for a full day with Karl and it was brilliant.
He helped us get more out of our camera and lenses than ever before, gave us some great composition tips and taught us a lit about the more technical side of photography.
On top of all that he took us to some iconic photography locations and shared some of his favourite spots around Glencoe.
I cant recommend him highly enough, head out with Karl and you'll be taking competition worthy photos in no time!
