I have seen pictures of Maho Beach. We did a cruise on Wonder of the sea. I had no idea Maho was in St. Marteen or even knew the name of the beach. Well, beyond my surprise it was an excursion. I never thought I would ever be there in my life. We cancelled our city tour for Saint Juliana Airport/Maho Beach plane spotting. I hope you will have the experience I had. My sister Gloria got the shot if the day. A large plane flew over her head. OMG! I wish I could post the video. Yeah I can post a picture s.

You have got to do this if in the area this is a bucket list item to be ticked off. This was our second visit and did not want to miss it again. We took the local bus to the beach. $2 dollars each way. No issues at all. Had a good few hours at the beach watching the flight arrive and depart.

I’ve been to Maho for many years and this time the beach was absolutely rammed this time, unlike pre Covid years. It’s definitely a place to visit, especially for the fun of seeing the aircraft up close but there is little room to move, especially without your things getting wet. The bar adjacent, Sunset is much the same. Mid afternoon it calms down, this was on a day with 3x cruise ships in. It seemed that everyone now goes there but there’s a real stretch on capacity. Would recommend a visit BUT be aware that it’s extremely busy!

Best advice if you love airplanes from up close. Install Flight Radar 24 App (free) and then filter to show only flights taking off or Landing from SXM airport. You will know real time exactly what plane is coming and when one is taking off, and never miss the big ones.

We took a tour around the island, and then we stopped to see several planes land at the airport. There is a board inside the restaurant right at the beach that lists the airline and the time they are due. However, the Air France and KLM flights were neither one on the board, so don’t rely on that entirely. The Air France and KLM flights are always late in the day. We were there from 2 pm until about 4:30pm.

Awesome experience. Once in a lifetime for me. The planes coming in and leaving…..amazing. Only problem was the people who don’t listen to the warnings and put their children in danger Of the turbo blasts…. It’s plainly explained Not to put them in danger but they still do…. I don’t know how they aren’t arrested for child endangerment…. Obey the rules. Otherwise absolutely amazing and cool experience.

Maho Beach has become one of the island's leading attractions: this is where the runway almost meets the beach, separated only by a narrow road and a flimsy fence. The location is also a great place to watch the sunset, and home to St. Maarten's largest and most successful hotel complex, The Sonesta Maho Reef Resort and its neighbor, The Royal Islander Hotel. The beach itself is framed by two beach bars: Sunset Bar & Grill and on the other end the Driftwood Boat Bar.

Beautiful place with very nice people all around. Maho is like its own little town and you feel like a local real quick once you get out and start to experience the town. The city bus is a great way to get around and very affordable. Ask your hotel how to use it.

While Maho Beach is not a massive beach it is very clean and obviously people come to see the planes land and take off. The waves when we visited were quite strong but we still enjoyed the water. Planes were arriving constantly and it was fun to watch. There are signs but be warned that you may want to select an area closer to the outsides of the beach and not the middle. If you do go right in the middle then make sure to hold your belongings when the big planes take off of they’ll go straight into the water.

It’s an experience everyone should have. Everyone has seen the videos of the planes coming in. Even more exciting is watching the big jets take off and all the chaos on the beach it creates. Parking is limited but a short walk down the street parking is plentiful off the side of the road. There is also a parking garage for paid parking on the corner. Beach is very crowded but it’s a beach with a theme and not for relaxing and hanging out.
